The ASM2 version of the character was blue-skinned., and Foxx said he's not going to have blue skin, ergo he's not playing the same version of the character that he did in ASM2.

Though at this point I don't believe Foxx is playing the same version of the character, changing the look of a character is by no means definitive evidence of that. (Beast or Sabretooth, anyone?) Then again, rumours of other former Spider-Man actors returning could mean they're just going to fix the disappointing portrayal of Electro but still allude to him being from the Webb universe.

At this point, there's no proof either way based on the actor saying "The character looks different."

It's starting to look like Dr. Strange is going to be our connecting tissue for Phase 4. So far we know that both WandaVision and Loki are going to be connected to Multiverse of Madness, and now Dr. Strange himself is going to be in Spider-Man: Home.... 3.

Doctor Strange will probably help Peter with his exposed identity problem like the comics sometimes have him do.

He mind f'd the entire planet to make them forget Spider-Man's identity after 'Civil War'. Well technically it was Mephisto rewriting history that led to it happening but let's not dive down that particular hell hole.

I've been thinking, if they ever decide to recast Steve Rogers, Antony Starr from The Boys would be great. After seeing him play someone so twisted with Homelander, it could be fun to see him play the complete opposite. And is pretty convincing when Homelander is pretending to be the wholesome all American hero.

I think it’d be a little too meta, in light of The Boys.

* Sigh *

Let Peter stand on his own

What's the point of putting a character in a Shared Universe if he's never going to interact with anyone else?

He's too old, although I have to admit they really should have cast him as John Walker.

As it is...I'd like to see Starr play MCU Norman Osborn.

The Avengers movies are where Pete's world can intersect with the wider MCU. His solo movies should be solely about him and the characters immediately associated with him.

The Dr. Strange thing is potentially worrisome as it *might* mean they're heading in a 'One More Day' direction...let's just hope that's not the case.
Alternatively Peter could just be hiding out at the Sanctum Sanctorum.

Pretty sure that ship sailed like 4 movies ago....

But yeah, that's dumb because "Pete's world" is New York. Home of half a dozen superheroes and related characters. Pretending the rest of the MCU doesn't exist is narratively wasteful. Besides, we already got TWO Spider-Man franchises where he's the only hero in town, (the first one even tried for a quasi-timeless retro setting) and the current one where he gets to hang out with Happy Hogan and Nick Fury is way better overall than either of those.

I think real "solo-movies" were a thing back 1. done to introduce characters, and 2. when the MCU wasn't a huge canvass yet, but various smaller parts of it that weren't yet connected.

Spidey is too connected to the rest of the MCU that it doesn't feel contrived to partner him up with another of the heroes, but feels natural after everything the character's been through (and will be going through). Homecoming was a solo-movie, granted with Tony (and Happy), but they stayed in the background and let Peter have his highschool-issues and superhero-adventures.

I'm happy about the news, I think the Tony-Peter-Strange interaction on the doughnut in IW was fabulous, and I certainly don't mind seeing more of Peter and Strange together in one movie. After all, they're my favourite characters left (with Bucky and Loki - looking forward to their resp series...), couldn't care less about the others.
