She was in a film that bombed. So does anyone know why Brie Larson was unceremoniously dumped from being the "face of Marvel going forward"?

Yeah no.
There is a small but sadly very loud crowd who keeps repeating what you are repeating. The character is not disliked. And even on this forum alone you'll find many people who like both the character, Brie Larson and both the movies.
Brie is disliked BY SOME because she got tired of all the hatred online and it was beginning to show in some interviews. And those interviews are the sources everybody uses to say she's boring and a robot.
There are so many great interviews and talkshow appearances where she is fun, engaging, joining in banter and jokes.
The big problem here, is you stating your opinions as if they are fact. The only fact is, they are opinions.
As for why she isn't the 'face of marvel going forward'..... We don't know. Marvel has been shaking things up and were trying new things to get in a new crowd. Could be that focus shifted. Could be that Brie herself already said 'one more film and I'm done'. Do we know for how long her contract is/was?
Or did they?Jayson1 said:I think Wanda could also be such a character but they made her go evil and killed her.
But the reason you can tell the character isn't liked isn't just because some people go overboard on the internet in complaining. It's because they simply didn't use her more. The lack of use is kind of the proof that whatever measurement they were using to examine fan approval, she didn't pass.
Even if they got some positive feedback that is not the same as people loving the character. If fans main response is "meh, she is okay I guess" then that exactly is not what you are looking forward in terms of being the face of the MCU.
The reality is that they are still in search of that new face. Even now the MCU doesn't have true replacements for Stark and Rogers. My money is they are now hoping a few of the X-Men characters will do that. I think T'Challa might have been able to do that if the actor hadn't sadly died. I think Spider-Man could be that but they seem to be limited to how much they can use him. I think Wanda could also be such a character but they made her go evil and killed her. Totally baffling mood as to what they have done to Wanda.
Nah, it's more that they waited too long to introduce her and integrate her more into the series. She should've been in Guardians of the Galaxy, replacing Star-Lord as the leader of the group entirely. Then gradually make her more powerful as the series goes on.People didn't like the character. It doesn't help that she is overpowered. She could literally come in and save the day in each movie. Stark's greatest strength at being the face of the MCU is people would love that character, even he never put on another Iron Man suit. Downey Jr gave him so much personality. Evans has that Aw Shucks vibe as well that made people like him. In a MCU way Iron Man was basically Batman and Captain America was Christopher Reeve's Superman.
Captain Marvel has no personality. She is to robotic and lacking a sense of humor. It is fun watching her in action scenes but anything else is just boring.
