Marina Sirtis

BruntFCA

Commander
Red Shirt
I was reading a thread from a few years back and someone said that she made some nasty remarks about DS9, I did a google search and couldn't find anything. Does anyone know if/what she said?

I don't blame her if she did. She really loved doing her work in the Trek franchise and was probably baffled over not reprising her Troi role in DS9.

I not much of a DS9 lover but I wouldn't mind seeing Troi in a few episodes of DS9!

Troi would not have fitted into DS9. The people on TNG just accepted her pyschobabble like it was gospel truth, whereas in DS9 that just wouldn't happen. It would have been fun seeing Troi adapt to DS9 and not be such an annoying character.

She's annoying because firstly counsellor is such a naff position for a main character, secondly she provoked people and people acted too reverently towards her, thirdly there was some terrible directing regarding the teleplay of Troi.

As opposed to LeVar Burton, Wil Wheaton, and Gates McFadden, who also never appeared in DS9? :wtf:

I was baffled too. It was strange that the councillor of the Enterprise didn't make regular appearances on Deep Space Nine, it's the most obvious place for her to be. Every episode I watched expecting her to show up and every episode I left feeling disappointed and slightly confused. In fact, it caused me to cry on more occasions than I'd care to admit.

On a more serious note, I can't remember where I saw it but I remember seeing her on stage at a convention with Michael Dorn and when a fan asked him a question about DS9, Marina interjected with "Oh, Deep Sleep Nine" then feigned snoring sounds. It seems that she got it into her head that DS9 was boring and liked to joke about it, which is ironic for an actress whose primary episodes tended to be romance-of-the-week stories. It's also possible that she fell out with the showrunners of DS9 for the way that Terry Farrell left the show because Marina and Terry were friends from before Terry was cast in the show.

Troi was not the kind of character that would have fit into the DS9 milieu without some serious rewriting and frankly recasting. :rommie:

Troi is rather conceded and haughty at time because she thinks she's superior to other people because she is empath and have highly evolved brain. She might have gotten in trouble on DS9 and the writer probably wouldn't be able to keep her out of trouble for a long time. They would probably have to kill her off!

Sucks...yes juvy reply...but I hate her. There was a part cut from Nemesis where Shinzon told the Vice-Roy..."her cunt was dry and it smells of vomit"

Actually, that might be a good reason to keep her on DS9 for a while and then kill her off... Make for a good story, don't you think? I think she adds an unstable elements to the series. Maybe they should have cast her for a season or two.

Troi would have only been good in episodes involving Lwaxana and then only for the line "MOTHER!" Kira would have knocked Troi down a peg or two for sure and maybe I would have enjoyed seeing that.

Er, what? Why would she be "baffled" that she wasn't going to be on a show that had a completely different cast, took place in a completely different place, and had nothing whatsoever to do with her? Could it be that your opinion is somewhat biased, "TroiFan4ever?":p

I still think she'd be great in the show. It'd keep people guessing what was going to happen since she would introduce unstable elements to it.

Let's say she gets into an argument with Odo or how about Sisko, or just rubbing the people the wrong way in general. Her character is very haughty and conceded, so I think it has potential.

Is there a reason why you're talking in the present tense, as if the show's still on the air?

But Marina keeps getting hotter the older she gets.

She wasn't even dooable till season 5.

Quick someone tell her. She's been waiting all her life for Guy to get the hots for her.

It's a bit of a stretch to have a Sirtis thread in DS9 however.
