There’s also the fact of where they took Luke; being a angry bitter old man, regretting all of his past decisions. Just felt very been there, done that. At the end of TFA I was hoping they were going to do something more interesting with him. Give him a good reason why he secluded himself other than just hiding and sulking.
Oh,please. Finally someone has the guts to call out the sequel trilogy. It was just a matter of time.

While I give her huge credit for saving ANH in the edit
That's an urban myth and nothing more.
The only one I like is The Force Awakens but I was also mostly just making a joke. Obviously these movies have been criticized heavily over the years. I was wondering if people would notice my light sarcasm. Is it really the whole Sequel Trilogy that deserves calling out, though? Or just The Rise of Skywalker?
Well when you get $50 million in the divorce settlement........you can "call out" anyone, any time. Finally someone has the guts to call out the sequel trilogy. It was just a matter of time.
It's a YouTube video made by a nobody to harvest views, not a peer-reviewed research paper. If you're aware of factual errors in the essay or in the sources it cites, I'd be interested to know.
And, without conceding that your assessment is correct, I'm stacking that up against a post that doesn't cite any sources at all, unlike the video that at least does cite multiple references. It's a YouTube video made by a nobody to harvest views, not a peer-reviewed research paper.
If the prequals had been made first the franchise wouldn't have made it to Episode 2.I wonder if the prequels had been released 40+ years ago, and then the OT was made recently during the social media age how many people would have slaughtered Ep 4 for having Obi Wan, this one strong Jedi Knight from the prequels suddenly become an old man hermit who switches off a tractor beam then allows himself to be killed off shortly after.
They would have done 2 just because of Mail……:-)If the prequals had been made first the franchise wouldn't have made it to Episode 2.
She hates anything that isn't the OT

A fairly legitimate grievance, IMO. Not how I feel, but she (of all people) is certainly entitled to it.
The biggest thing with the OT is it had a lot of creative people working together, with Lucas as that visionary, rather than the supreme commander. It's hard to recapture that same energy. And rightfully so - the OT wasn't perfect but they started it all and they have a charm, style and that certain something the prequels and sequels completely lack. Most of fandom agrees with her.
Disney/Kathleen Kennedy have no clue how to do a good Star Wars movie let alone a trilogy but ever since they gave Favreau and Filoni their own show ( and spin offs) it is starting to turn around. My only hope is that the Disney boss will fire Kennedy soon and puts either of them as the creative head of Star Wars in charge, much the same as they did with Kevin Feige and the Marvel universe, because Feige understands the material and knows what he's doing.
How rude.My only hope is that the Disney boss will fire Kennedy soon
He was a film school superstar at USC and his student films had Coppola notice him, so I think it's a yes."Talented" filmmaker? No.
Indeed. There is something special about the OT, that fantasy style story, that is ultimately very satisfactory, and has that unmeasurable quality to it that cannot be replicated. No love like your first love. No matter how brilliant any of the films post-Original Trilogy were, there would be a certain emotional flatness towards them.
