News Marcia Lucas calls out Kennedy and Abrams, pans the Sequels

I don't want to go on too long about this, but he didn't regret all his past decisions, he regretted turning a lightsaber on his nephew. He considered the Jedi order to have led the galaxy astray.
I get it though, these days people want to see their childhood heroes being badasses for that nostalgia kick. I just thought the story they presented was pretty interesting and a bit more layered than him mowing some trooper droids down, which was also cool, because it fit where he was at that time in his life.
Oh,please.
Is it really the whole Sequel Trilogy that deserves calling out, though? Or just The Rise of Skywalker?
This sourced video essay makes a solid case that the entire editing team in direct collaboration with George Lucas saved the original film. As part of that team, Marcia Lucas made essential contributions. They all did. (And, of course, Paul Hirsch, Marcia Lucas and Richard Chew won the Academy Award for Best Film Editing that year.)
If you're aware of factual errors in the essay or in the sources it cites, I'd be interested to know.
The only one I like is The Force Awakens but I was also mostly just making a joke. Obviously these movies have been criticized heavily over the years. I was wondering if people would notice my light sarcasm.

It's a YouTube video made by a nobody to harvest views, not a peer-reviewed research paper.
And, without conceding that your assessment is correct, I'm stacking that up against a post that doesn't cite any sources at all, unlike the video that at least does cite multiple references.

And rightfully so - the OT wasn't perfect but they started it all and they have a charm, style and that certain something the prequels and sequels completely lack. Most of fandom agrees with her.
On The Phantom Menace:
A fairly legitimate grievance, IMO. Not how I feel, but she (of all people) is certainly entitled to it.
"Talented" filmmaker? No. Briliant visionary? Absolutely.
Lucas is talented in dreaming up settings, a visual style and a broad universe where his story takes place but when the time comes to put it all to paper and onto film he's just not good, the prequels more so than anything else have proven this. Unfortunately his ego is too big to realize his limitations and there was no one around with enough power to tell him that what he's doing is not good so we got what we got.
Disney/Kathleen Kennedy have no clue how to do a good Star Wars movie let alone a trilogy but ever since they gave Favreau and Filoni their own show ( and spin offs) it is starting to turn around. My only hope is that the Disney boss will fire Kennedy soon and puts either of them as the creative head of Star Wars in charge, much the same as they did with Kevin Feige and the Marvel universe, because Feige understands the material and knows what he's doing.
The biggest thing with the OT is it had a lot of creative people working together, with Lucas as that visionary, rather than the supreme commander. It's hard to recapture that same energy.
Favreau and Filoni know how to tell small scale stories. I wouldn't trust them with the franchise as a whole. They need someone with a bigger vision, coupled with an experienced producer like Kennedy. Firing her is not the answer because it won't automatically mean good product will result. It's not like Kennedy is responsible for only the failings anyway. Rogue One was produced under her watch too. It's an overgeneralization of Kennedy=bad, when good stuff has been produced under her too.
I mean, in my opinion Disney/Kennedy put out two great films (TFA and TLJ), one really good film (Rogue One), one ok film (Rise of Skywalker) and one worthless turd (Solo). Lucas was involved in 3 great films (OT), one watchable film (ROTS), and two godawful films (TPM and AOTC). But, he needed a lot of outside help to make the OT what they were, without the other writers/directors/editors then Star Wars would have ended up being just one probably pretty mediocre movie.
The problem with the Sequel Trilogy, well the problem with how it ended (because 2/3rds of it are great) is that they listened to the whiny assholes who hated TLJ too much, even though they had no reason to. TLJ made a lot of money and was mostly well liked, the people who hate it are loud but not really that significant number wise, just like (to use another Disney franchise example) the Captain Marvel haters. Kennedy is probably partially responsible for the lackluster ending of the trilogy, and the stupid backtracking by rehiring Abrams who botched RoS, but that doesn't make her bad at her job overall. She just needs to do more of what Feige does, which is basically identify and ignore the assholes who are loud but not actually important to the films success (can you imagine what would happen if the MCU had listened to the idiots who whined about Captain Marvel?).
Solo was a bit different, a complete failure that I consider my most hated SW movie (even if TPM and AOTC are probably worse movies objectively, I hate Solo a lot more), but I'm convinced that Lord/Miller's version was probably even worse then Howard's version, and them getting fired was probably justified and not a problem with Disney/Kennedy.

He was a film school superstar at USC and his student films had Coppola notice him, so I think it's a yes.
Indeed. There is something special about the OT, that fantasy style story, that is ultimately very satisfactory, and has that unmeasurable quality to it that cannot be replicated.
