So, Penny continues to be inconsistent and Smoltz looks like he's only good for ~80 pitches before he implodes mightily. I like the Beckett-Lester-Wakefield troika; I'd just like to see it rounded out with a young, healthy pitcher (ahem, Buchholz).

It's the second half, and there's no wiggle room for playing around with so-so pitching. The Yankees are having some pitcher injuries of their own, so now's a good chance to expand the AL East lead instead of blowing it.

This is what I want...totally biased mind you...

Trade Saito...Put Smoltz in the bullpen...Buch to the Rotation.

Put a package made around Bowden, Lars Anderson, and Casey Kelly and chuck them at San Diego for Adrian Gonzalez...

Relegate Lowell to occasional DH/ 3B. I love the guy, and he can still hit pretty well, but this team needs an impact bat...right about....now.

Yikes! The Twins blow a 12-2 lead and lose to Oakland 14-13. The bad call against Cuddyer didn't help, but had their pitching not sucked so badly, it wouldn't have mattered.

I was really curious what you would say about that game last night. The guy was clearly safe, and the Game should have continued, but the Twins should not have allowed that to even happen. Still, what a comeback from the A's and I really look forward to tonight and what happens. Gardenhire was pissed last night as he should.

They gave up a ten run lead. They deserved to loose. :brickwall:

I think the first mistake was Gardy giving Blackburn so many days off. He was rusty.

Well, you are getting Buch in the rotation to fill in for the DLed Wakefield, which doesn't bother me much at all. If Smoltz blows another start, he needs to be cut from the rotation.

What about trading Dice-K for Halladay, to throw out a weird one?

And a craptacular performance from the Red Sox hands the Yanks the AL East lead...for a day or two. ;)

Jayson Werth makes it 10 wins in a row! And the much maligned Phillies pitching staff has given up 9 runs in the past 6 games...not too shabby.

The BBTN crew should just go ahead and make a giant shrine to the Phillies, Manny Ramirez, and John Kruk's ego.

Awww, looks like someone was hoping his team would only be 5.5 games back after tonight. It's okay, I was hoping mine would be up by 7.5.

The Phillies are starting to run away with the NL East. I will however make the prediction that the Nats will go on a 37 game win streak to close out the season. It will be impressive. ;)

Otherwise, the Tigers got off the slide today, and beat the Mariners. They were up 8-1, and won 9-7. A scary win, but a win none the less. Back up 2 games on the White Sox.
