tom servo,i gotta hand it to the sox this season. they "own" the yankees right now. the seasons still early though, but the sox are a very good team, well put togeather and their clicking on all cylinders even without ramirez and with ortiz on the downside .the yankees expensive pitching staff hasnt been too impressive yet.maybe its time to dump the expensive vets and start from scratch. although thats not the yankee way.maybe the return of a rod this week will energise them. only time will tell.Ah nothing I like to see more then Jon Lester dominating the Yankees with 10 Ks in a 6-4 Sox win at the NEW Yankee Stadium.
To quote Eckersley during the telecast..."That right there, that ball was salad."
I dont think the Sox have owned the Yankee's at all really, yes they are 4-0 against them, but it's early in the season, and all the games have been close ones.
What I really think it comes down to is that the Sox have a better 6th-7th-8th inning relief corps then the Yanks. The ninth is a wash with Papelbon and Rivera, but its those earlier innings that seem to kill the Yankees. As with most Sox/ Yanks game the starters usually dont seem to pitch too deep into the game, so those mid inning relievers are critical, and I think thats why the Sox have won those games.
