Ah nothing I like to see more then Jon Lester dominating the Yankees with 10 Ks in a 6-4 Sox win at the NEW Yankee Stadium.

To quote Eckersley during the telecast..."That right there, that ball was salad."
tom servo,i gotta hand it to the sox this season. they "own" the yankees right now. the seasons still early though, but the sox are a very good team, well put togeather and their clicking on all cylinders even without ramirez and with ortiz on the downside .the yankees expensive pitching staff hasnt been too impressive yet.maybe its time to dump the expensive vets and start from scratch. although thats not the yankee way.maybe the return of a rod this week will energise them. only time will tell.

I dont think the Sox have owned the Yankee's at all really, yes they are 4-0 against them, but it's early in the season, and all the games have been close ones.

What I really think it comes down to is that the Sox have a better 6th-7th-8th inning relief corps then the Yanks. The ninth is a wash with Papelbon and Rivera, but its those earlier innings that seem to kill the Yankees. As with most Sox/ Yanks game the starters usually dont seem to pitch too deep into the game, so those mid inning relievers are critical, and I think thats why the Sox have won those games.

the new Yankee stadium, makes me sad. Just so many empty seats, seemingly no home field advantage, and a HR launchpad. Just kinda lame, really

theres too many empty seats because the ownership has chosen to cater to corporate bigwigs rather than the average fan and have so overpriced them that they cant sell them all. they have already reduced the price of many of their seats by 1/2.
as an aside i was a season ticket holder for many years at yankee stadium. i had seats iin the first row right behind the yankee dugout. they were great, and reasonable at 11 dollers per seat per game. know what they cost now? 2500 per game.thats just crazy!

i would say thats a fair and accurate analysis!btw , the sox have swept the yanks again!:(

Next few weeks will be big. After the Jays get this short California trip out of the way, we play three games against the Yankees, three against the Orioles and six against the Red Sox before the end of the month. Could really start to show how the division will shape up over the rest of the season. Ideally, I'd like to see the Jays go at least 4-2 against the Sox. Yanks and Orioles I'm less and much less worried about, respectively, but getting some wins against them both will still be important.

Boom. Jays 13, Angels 1. Halladay wins his sixth of the year, and the Jays become the first team in the league to hit 20 wins. Team is batting .297 with 189 runs, best in the majors, and we have a two-game cushion over the Sox. Life is good.

Giants toughed it out yesterday, just a little bit more hitting and they could make this division fun.

I'm glad to see the Mets are on ESPN tonight. Santana vs. Lowe should be a great matchup.

I didn't realize the Mets were in first until someone mentioned it on Sportscenter.

And where did this Niese kid come from? He can pitch!

I think they already are making the division fun because of that pitching. I thought they were going to get swept in LA this weekend (Since LA going in was 13 and 1) and they ended up taking the series. I agree, they need a big bat in the line up, but the pitching is going to keep this team in the hunt for most of the year. It's also so nice to see Zito doing well.

He keeps this up and he'll be the comeback player this year. I like Ishikawa's play at first but his bat is a black hole in the line up, now Fred Lewis, I don't see much upside there...

I have not been impressed with Lewis at all. His defense is absolutely terrible, and other than a few streaks here and, his hitting is forgettable. I really want to see Scherholtz play more, and it adds some more speed to the line up. If there was a way to put him in and take out Lewis somehow, I would be pleased.

Anyone catch Brett Cecil's second major league start yesterday? He tossed eight shut-out innings, scattering five hits. It won't last, but his ERA is now 0.64! Based on the way things look this year, we have a hell of a future for our rotation. Makes me worry a little less about the post-Halladay era. ;)

Speaking of which, I'm going to miss Halladay face A.J. Burnett tomorrow.

I picked up Cecil in my Yahoo league on Saturday only because I needed a win to lock up the wins category. Cecil looked pretty good in his first outing, and I figured with Toronto on a roll, he had a good chance. Not sure if he'll continue to have success once opposing batters figure him out, but I'm gonna hang on to him. Toronto's starting rotation sure looks impressive so far this year.

I still think the Twins have a pretty decent starting rotation, but if their middle relievers keep screwing up, it won't matter how good they are.

^ I suspect he'll fade off somewhat after another four or five starts and head back down to triple A. He's good, but I don't think he's quite up to the level where he can maintain this type of quality consistently, and he needs time to work on it under less pressure. But give him another couple years, and he's ace material, I think.

For now, we should be getting Romero and Litsch back sometime within the next couple of weeks, and I believe both Marcum and McGowan are expected back by midseason, so the rotation should only be getting stronger.

Halliday owns. I have some pics from the Baltimore game I went to on May 4th. I'm going again on May 29th. I'm the only person still proudly wearing my Hentgen jersey.

Jays better hold on this year. They always do good and then start to fall. I am hoping this year is our year <3 I want to re-live the 92/93 glory days.

^ I really hope Halladay ends up being a career Blue Jay. We haven't had a SP who stuck with us his whole career since Dave Steib (well, aside from four games in Chicago). It'd be awesome to see that happen again, 'cept hopefully the Jays can win a World Series while he's still a regular starter.

And I know how you feel. I was too young to truly appreciate the runs of '92 and '93, so I really want to be along for the ride for an entire season, for a change. GO JAYS! :D

Blue Jays: 5
Yankees: 1

Hells yes. The Doctor was in tonight! Halladay picks up win number seven, and the bats send Burnett down in flames. Bet he's regretting opting out of that contract right about now... :D
