Major League Baseball 2009

^ An exciting weekend of Sox baseball. I'll be going to the next three games in Cleveland, and am hoping for more sweep action. ;)

That was awesome was Ellsbury did. It one of those things that almost never happens and when it does, it's just as exciting if not moreso than a triple play.

I checked out Citi Field on Saturday. What a beautiful ballpark. Good sightlines, nice food selection, and you can see the game from the concourses as you wander around.

The only thing I don't like is that its kind of blocky and angular for some reason. And I hate that wall with 10 different heights.

But overall a HUGE upgrade from Shea, which is now a debris pit next door.

Hey and they Mets even won to boot! 8-2! Go Pelfrey!

Nice to see Wake get his ERA under 2.00 and Bay win the day with a three-run jack in person. Hoping to see the streak extended to 12 tomorrow. :)

Amen to that.

I'm not sure whether I want to laugh or cry at the crappy play out of the Cubs tonight. Parade of errors this one is...

Can't believe they're this tight on players tonight. They're talking about Blanco playing third and Soriano playing middle infield.....

Gotta hold on the ball, Lopez! :scream: Sox could've sent it into extras if it weren't for Lopez's E1. I also liked how Lugo's return to the majors was distinguised by an error.

I'll be at tomorrow's game and am hoping for a better performance out of Lester, Delcarmen, and a rested Papelbon.

Just got back from the final game in the BOS@CLE series. I was worried to see Lester start off with an E1 and then proceed to get lit up for the next few innings. I'm glad I stuck around, though, and got to witness Van Every's first major league HR, which was crushed to straightaway center.

On to TB!

Anyone see Wednesday's Tigers/Yankees game when the fire alarm went off by mistake? Linky

I love some of the comments people left there...

"Nick Swisher caused the alarm. He was on fire!"

"Not even the park could believe the Tigers weren't 0-14 again this season." :guffaw:

Bah. Terrible series for the Jays in Cleveland. Time to turn it around against the Orioles, guys.

YAY!

Always fun to watch him pitch, and he's just getting better....

Mets-Phillies this weekend. I have a bad feeling about this. The Mets just look uninspired so far. I don't know how else to put it.

Jays figured out how to win again tonight, 8-4 with Halladay on the mound. Granted it was against Baltimore... not exactly the biggest threat in the division, but still good to see. Tomorrow, we have, uh, some guy, on the mound. Let's hope the bats are in attendance!

Not much pop in the Sox offense in TB. I'm hoping Wake can turn that around, with his awesome sub-2.00 ERA...not bad for an old fart. :)

And for the record, I still have a huge man-crush on Jacoby Ellsbury. I've probably watched the clip of him stealing home under the nose of a stunned Andy Pettitte about two dozen times. :techman: He's the fuckin' man!

EDIT: Well, Wake's ERA is a little higher now, but the Sox offense managed to come to life and deliver a win. I don't have much faith in Penny tomorrow, though. I really think he should be sent down. How's Buchholz doing these days?

And that's a sweep! Richmond improves to 4-0 on the season, with a damned impressive 2.67 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. He's certainly stepping up to fill in well for guys like Litsch and McGowan while we're waiting on guys to come off the DL. Next up we have the Tribe coming to visit, with Tallet and Cecil (making his MLB-debut) lined up on the mound. Not sure how that will go, but we seem to be facing a couple of struggling Cleveland arms so hopefully we can bash out a couple more wins at home before heading off to Anaheim for a quick California road trip.

For now, 18-9! Best in the American League! :D

Well the Giants are as predicted, great pitching and no offense. Four runs and they win the series vs the Rockies.

At least the Zito ship has been righted.

Ah nothing I like to see more then Jon Lester dominating the Yankees with 10 Ks in a 6-4 Sox win at the NEW Yankee Stadium.

To quote Eckersley during the telecast..."That right there, that ball was salad."

tom servo,i gotta hand it to the sox this season. they "own" the yankees right now. the seasons still early though, but the sox are a very good team, well put togeather and their clicking on all cylinders even without ramirez and with ortiz on the downside .the yankees expensive pitching staff hasnt been too impressive yet.maybe its time to dump the expensive vets and start from scratch. although thats not the yankee way.maybe the return of a rod this week will energise them. only time will tell.
