Side note... let's give a shout out to the Voice of God himself - Bob Sheppard, long time PA voice at Yankee Stadium. He turned 99 today! :techman:

Here's hoping he can return soon. He hasn't announced any games since 2007, but he hasn't retired (yet).

The umpiring this post season has been nothing short of disgraceful. I really wonder what MLB is going to do about this...

As a former softball umpire (and one of the few gals around here foolish enough to subject myself to that kind of torture), I usually give the umps the benefit of the doubt. But there's little to defend this year- the umpiring has been horrendous.

Neither series is going how I had hoped. I'd like to see the Angels play like the team I know they are instead of what I've seen so far.

But one way or the other, I still heart Torii Hunter.

They made up for the awful Swisher tag up call with the even more obviously wrong 2 men at third base call. I was rooting for the Yanks and I still hated that call.

All I care about is that as of now, Oct. 21st, the Yankees are a win away from being in the World Series! Woo-hoo! -- RR

Any Yankee fan should recognize by now that Joba Chamberlain is back where he belongs - in the bullpen. As much as I like the guy, being a fellow Nebraskan and all, he should not be starting. He works best as a reliever in the 7th or 8th inning - coming out of the bullpen, spitting fire.

I want them to leave him in the pen too. He's been inconsistent as a starter. They ought to start grooming him for the post-Mo days. I like Hughes as the long term 8th inning guy.

They have enough starting depth to leave them there. Speaking of starters, where did Chien Ming Wang go? Did he get hurt again?

Even after their season is over, the Mets are still making news and not in a good way. I don't think 2009 can end fast enough for them.
NEW YORK (AP) -- The trustee overseeing jailed financier Bernard Madoff's assets has labeled the New York Mets winners in the epic fraud. He says the baseball team made nearly $48 million in the Ponzi scheme.

This after crying all year how they got fleeced by Madoff and insinuating that it will keep them from going after higher priced free agents in the offseason.

The Mets are one of the top 5 laughing stocks in all of professional sports right now. They're up there with the Raiders and the Knicks of the Isiah years.

UGH!

Well, I don't like the Yankees much, but I like the Phillies even less- so go Yankees!

Oh, God. I just realized I'm going to be in New York during the series.

:( I guess things CAN get worse for the Mess.

Surely they're still ahead of the Redskins, though! :p

If you count the Nick Swisher tag up play as going against the Yankees, then yes. If you count that play as a make up for the missed pick off play on Swisher, then no.
