Majel Barrett Roddenberry Has Died

Just found out about her passing this morning. A good and gracious lady who was truly committed not just to Star Trek, but to space exploration and to expanding the limits of human knowledge and understanding. Also, she was an incredibly compassionate woman who genuinely cared about the world around her.

She will be missed, but, thanks to the magic of modern technology, she will live on--and she will always live on in our minds and hearts.

Total shock. Just showed up in my AOL when I was checking my mail. I had no idea she was ill, and I had just been delighted to hear she was going to voice the computer in J.J.'s new production.

Sad, sad. :(

RIP

I just heard the news this morning on the way into work. I never met Majel, but she meant a lot to me and spoke to me, especially her portrayal of Lwaxana. Its hard to explain, but her fun loving spirit and beauty always cheered me up. I will miss her greatly. She truly was the "Fist Lady of Star Trek."

I love you Majel! Have a safe journey through the stars.

Had the honor of meeting her at Quark's in Vegas a few years ago. She was a great "broad" in the best sense of the word - great sense of humor, gracious, self-deprecating, great storyteller, and could tip a glass with anyone. (Looked and smelled great too). Her contributions to our beloved Trek are almost unequalled. The scene between her and Nimoy in "Amok Time" is one of the most touching in all of Trekdom - "Nurse, your face is wet"

Now my face is wet too. RIP

RIP, Majel. I always enjoyed her contributions to Trek, particularly as Lwaxana Troi. Her perfomance in "The Forsaken" was particularly memorable, and she had great on-screen chemistry with Rene Auberjonois, Patrick Stewart, and Marina Sirtis. She'll be missed, but I'm glad we'll get to hear her one last time in May.

Not the way I want to start my Friday, but I will choose to remember ALL that Majel did for Star Trek. There are many fond memories - everything from the epsiode "The Cage" where she was #1 to the indomitable Lwaxana Troi. Star Trek fandom has lost a great one here.

RIP Majel. Thank you for everything.

Aw, this sucks shit. :(
How depressing. At least she's with the Great Bird of the Galaxy  once again.

What are they going to do with the body?

Gene was burned and placed into a rocket and after time burned up in reentry.

Scotty was sent into space and it did return only to be lost in Utah, USA.

This is really sad news. I never met Majel she but I enjoyed her watching her differnt characters in the different tv series. She was a very large part of the StarTrek legacy she will be missed. My condolences to the Roddenberry family.:(

I had the pleasure of meeting her once at San Diego Comic Con when Roddenberry-based comics came out. She was a nice, friendly woman. My condolences to her family.

I loved her as Troi's mother. (I grew up on TNG). It wasn't until much later I found out she was the voice of the computer and a nurse in TOS. She will be missed. RIP:(

Is it possible that she had more lines of dialogue than any actor in trek history?

I dunno. In most of her TNG era appearances, her lines were limited to 2 or 3 per show.

I would love to see a website set up with all her raw computer VO one day.

Wow... heard this and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Majel, thanks for keeping the spirit of Star Trek alive, and for all the great roles we got to see you in over the years.

You shall be missed. :(
