Majel Barrett Roddenberry Has Died

Damn, Damn, Damn.. Well, at least she and Gene are together again.

Deepest condolences and warmest thoughts to her family and loved ones...

She looked really bad in Vegas this August. At least she stayed active. It is always sad to see our favorites go. :(

It's so hard to believe that I've been hearing her voice for most of my life. Computer voices just won't be the same...

I haven't stopped crying, I met her in the 2006 Pasadena con and a few weeks b4 a great friend of mine was murdered, I went in not at all thinking about living, I met Majel and she wrapped her arms around me and took the time to help me though the pain. She gave me back my life, I will never forget that.

Anyway, McCoy thinks he's alone in his quarters when he hears a female voice say something like "Doctor, you're needed in Sickbay. McCoy grumbles in response: "Computer off."

But the voice continued trying to get Bones out of bed. He looked up and there was Dr. Chapel, who had used a medical emergency code to get in those quarters.

"You think I sound like a computer?" Chapel replied.

I'm sorry, I know this is a sad occasion, but that scene just made me  a bit.

I definitely like it better than this earlier TOS novel where it's said that the computer voice was based on Number One...

This is truly a sad day for those of us who saw Majel do a wide variety of characters. It brings to mind a novel by Christopher Bennett called "Deus Ex Machina." (If I got any of this wrong, let me know.)

The novel's name is actually just "Ex Machina".

Thanks. And I heartily recommend "Ex Machina" as a great read if ou want to find out what happened just after Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Sad news really. She was a great actress and did contribute a lot to Star Trek in her roles as Number One (TOS; The Cage), nurse Chapel (TOS) and Lwaxana Troi (TNG, DS9) as well as the computer voice.

We'll miss you Mrs. Roddenberry!

R.I.P.

I registered to express my sincere condolences for Majel Barret Roddenberry. She has been a major cornerstone in Star Trek history. I really do hope that when Star Trek XI comes out, they insert a line right before the opening credits saying simply:
For Majel Barret Roddenberry

Kind of like what they did when they put For Gene Roddenberry right before the opening credits of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. I just think it would be fitting if Majel got the same honor. In any case, I think she went with dignity by having a part in the first Star Trek movie for a new generation of Trekkies. You'll be sorely missed!
