Majel Barrett Roddenberry Has Died

Seems hard to believe. She was only a few years older than my mom.

I liked her as Chapel, but really liked her acting as Lwaxana Troi, especially in "Dark Page."

It's like losing a member of your family. She was that very special great aunt who always understood you even when the rest of the family didn't. :)
Majel's death hits me harder even than Jimmy Doohan or DeForest Kelley. She was everywhere. You always knew that it was going to be a fun episode if Lwaxana came out of the turbolift. You loved the deadpan way the computer be confused when the officers made side comments out of frustration. You always felt the tug on your heartstrings when confronted with the unrequited longings of Christine.
But more than that, for the fans, she was our surrogate mom. Every interview showed just how much she appreciated fans for our love of Gene and his creation.
We'll all miss her.

Was there from the beginning, this post hit me out of the blue, at first I did not want to believe it. She will be missed by all, Majel WAS Trek, may God bless her family in this time. At least we will always have her in our memories, and on our DVD's...She will not be forgetten

I loved her as Troi's mother. (I grew up on TNG). It wasn't until much later I found out she was the voice of the computer and a nurse in TOS. She will be missed. RIP:(

Damn. That's practically all I can think of to say. This just came so out of the blue. Did anyone even know she was ill?

Majel always carried herself with great dignity on screen (well, as much dignity as Lwaxana could display), and from all that I've heard, in life as well. I never had the chance to see her at conventions; though she was scheduled to appear at three I attended, for some reason, she had to cancel each time. I've always regretted never being able to see her, after hearing so many stories about her appearances.

For me, I suppose it seemed like Majel just wouldn't die... Even with the increasingly apparant mortality of Star Trek actors (that really began with Gene, and Mark Lenard) it just never occurred to me. It was somehow comforting to know that she was around, being the advocate for good, true Trek that she was.

Rod and the Roddenberry family will be in my prayers.

Lady Morella has gone beyond the rim...

I was honoured to be a dinner guest in her Bel-Air mansion in December 1991, when it was decorated for Christmas. Majel was a most gracious hostess, with a delightfully wacky sense of humour. Coincidentally, it was the night of the Superbowl final, and she asked if I minded her having the game on during dinner, since "her team" was playing. (Who was I to argue? But don't ask me who won. It's a night that's kind of hard to remember, because I was floating in a bizarre haze of disbelief, and there was a house rule that Star Trek not be mentioned.) I truly felt like I was meeting Mrs Troi - Majel wasn't acting when she played that character.

I understand she recently recorded the Enterprise computer voice for JJ Abram's new ST film, which opens in May 2009. A fitting and timely reprise. Vale Majel.

Did anyone even know she was ill?

It was reported that she made several convention appearances in a wheelchair a few years ago, and that she'd had to give up her beloved golf, so I took it she wasn't well. The leukemia was described in the media release as a recent condition.

Sad news indeed.:(

But every time you see her in an episode or hear her voice Smile:)
remember her for the joy she gave us.
she will never be forgotten.

I couldn't believe it when I read this. Sad news indeed. :(

She's been in all of the Treks, allowing her as much presence onscreen as she had off it.

How sad, another part of original Trek has died :( RIP Majel,Number One,Nurse Chapel,Troi's Mom,Computer Voice,Centauri Seer woman.

Oh my god. I can't believe she's gone. I met her at the Vegas convention I think a couple of years ago. She was so nice. She will be greatly missed.:(
