Speaking of actors from
Madame Web and anti-woke YouTubers,
Slate currently has on its front page, I shit you not, this article: "
It Needs to Be Said: Sydney Sweeney’s Boobs Are Not That Big. If anything, they're kind of average." Said article goes on to repeatedly cite 34DD as the average American female measurement. Neither the words "overweight" or "obese" are included in the article, though the
CDC reports "Percent of adults age 20 and older with overweight, including obesity: 73.6% (2017-2018)." To be fair, the article
does observe that Sweeney is short and thin, but it conspicuously, and, dare I allege,
deliberately doesn't contrast her thinness with the fact that roughly three-quarters of Americans are
not thin. In other words, the article generally, and the headline specifically, is trollery.
I don't identify as anti-woke, I'm not a fan of the anti-woke YouTubers, and I
am a fan of much of
Slate's output, but, when I read articles as deliberately misleading and trolling as that, I understand why so many guys these days
do resent wokeness. Long-deserved generational/gender-al payback or not, people tend not to like being trolled, and when they are, they're likely to snap back.
