The ratings were good

Luther, starring Idris Elba and Ruth Wilson, concluded with 5.74m (24.8%) on BBC One from 9pm, up on the series two debut rating.

^Excellent! Well, if Idris is up for it, then I would hope they someday do more.

I hope they do more, I really do - however, going into this I read somewhere this would be the last, and although they didnt off Luther like I thought they would (ending it with him and the girl eating Ice Cream?! Ha!) my gut tells me making a third series won't be as clean cut as getting a second made was hard enough it seems.

^The first didn't get very good press or ratings if I remember right, so the second was kinda unexpected but they only produced 2 special episodes, which were then edited in to 4 to make it a series. Series 2 seems to have gathered more interest both critically and with the audience, so I wouldn't think series 3 is as unlikely as series 2 was.
