That's dumb.
“In today’s crowded media landscape, it’s essential for our services to have the same scale and brand ubiquity as our international competitors,” said Randy Lennox, President, Bell Media. “As a result we’re focusing and amplifying CTV so that it is stronger than ever.”
“The launch of this multi-genre, next generation digital super hub instantly makes our expansive portfolio easy to find through one point of entry,” said Mike Cosentino, President, Programming and Content. “It’s an enormously powerful collection of CTV-branded services, live and on-demand, encompassing hit programming from every genre.”
The impression I'm getting is that it will take the universe seriously, but it'll just have funny characters and situations. So it's not going to be a parody or anything like it, it'll just be a comedy that happens to take place in the Star Trek universe.Apparently Lower Decks is 100% canon.
I suspect fans will debate this for all eternity like they do ST: The Animated Series and the Marvel Universe Netflix and TV shows.
Not that it really matters as long as it's enjoyable, right?
Of course it's canon.
Star Trek is not meant to be enjoyed! Star Trek only has merit when it is canonical and consistent with said canonical structure.
Oh, right. Yeah, I think I see the problem with the franchise now.
Those shouldn't be requirements to enjoy something.Only when it's canonical, consistent,
Those shouldn't be requirements to enjoy something.
I would say identity politics shouldn't be a requirement to enjoy something and yet I keep coming across people who put that first.
They're also completely different things.I've yet to see anyone put that first.
Just thought of this. Q appearing in the series makes perfect sense. Q's rascal-like behaviour would probably fit the tone of the show like a glove. I definitely can see allot of comedic opportunities. Add the fact you can still make Q look young since it's animation AND to boot- John de Lancie is an accomplished voice actor himself.
I'll take good.Only when it's canonical, consistent, and....GOOD.

I wish I was feeling that positive.I'm still skittish about it.
It might look better in motion.I wish I was feeling that positive.
I already dislike the animation style, but I was always going to.
