List Only! Last Star Trek Episode You Watched

TNG’s “Imaginary Friend”. Far too many kiddie episodes in S5, and generally Trek and kids do not mix well. Noley Thornton was utterly adorable as Clara mind you, but the plot is seriously meh.

Star Trek Discovery "Brother", "New Eden", and "Point of Light".

I noted that the planet New Eden had several rings, and that they were not orbiting in the same plane.

Presumably several small moons had been destroyed and turned into rings composed of many particles.

That must have been a very recent event on a geological or astronomical time scale. For one thing, rings tend to last for only tens or hundreds of millions of years. For another, gravitational interactions with the planet would pull all the ring particles into orbits in the same plane, a plane above the planets equator, in a much shorter time. For another thing, radioactive ring particles were mentioned and their potential disastrous effect on the planet were mentioned.. If the ring particles became radioactive during the event that created the rings, their radioactivity would quickly decay to harmless levels on a geological or astronomical time scale.

Thus it is possible that the rings of New Eden were created during the event that brought the New Eden people there 200 years earlier.

TNG “I Borg”. A great morality tale, and classic Trek. That said, I do have mixed feelings about what this meant for the Borg. The show’s greatest adversary was significantly declawed and I kind of wish Hugh had been portrayed in a way that was less overtly cute and more...I don’t know, traumatised, maybe unnerving. Everything felt a little too sanitised. That said, Picard’s masterplan to destroy the Borg was worthy of Section 31. He goes pretty dark in this ep.

VOY: "Basics" -- both parts!

So satisfying. Is my favorite Star Trek movie actually all of Basics? It might be!

I never noticed quite how egregiously incompetent Neelix is in Part II before. Most of the constant peril and death the crew encounters on the planet is a direct result of Neelix's terrible decision making!

"Observer Effect" (ENT)

I'm half-way through the fourth season. Only 11 episodes left. I'm in the home-stretch.

If you're wondering, so far I think the fourth season is the best. Probably not a huge surprise I'd think this. For me, it would go 4, 1, 3, 2.

I'm impressed you seem to have given Enterprise a generally good rating
It's not the turkey it's made out to be, as I've continually said on here
Like other Trek franchises, it has good and bad
My season preferential order would be 3, 4, 1, 2

TOS “Conscience of the King”. This episode feels quite dated in many respects—even the idea of a troupe of actors touring the galaxy from planet to planet with sets that wouldn’t look out of place in a primary school play seems very quaint. But it’s a nice little drama all the same with some great performances, including by Shatner, who gives one of his most restrained and effective performances. I love the sheer variety of story types in TOS’s first season,

TNG “The Next Phase”. Such a fun, engaging episode! It made me realise what was lacking in TNG’s fifth season, and that’s high concept (or even moderate concept!) sci-fi. I feel there was too much middle of the road soap opera stuff at this point in the show’s run, and a general lack of ambition when it came to sci-fi storytelling. I just wish there had been some kind of dialogue to explain one of the biggest plot holes—why don’t Geordi and Ro fall through the floors/deck? Also couldn’t help wondering what the deal with Ro’s headband was. Seemed an odd, extraneous wardrobe choice.

DS9 The way of the warrior

The TOS Klingons seemed more thoughtful and intelligent than the TNG/DS9 Klingons who seem to spend their lifes dying for a good fight. However the 24th century Klingons look better
