List Only! Last Star Trek Episode You Watched

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. Much better than I ever credited it. It's aged well.
I watched that one only last week, and found it to be a frustrating mix of the brilliant and the horrible, all packaged up in a single movie. It certainly isn't irredeemable though, and doesn't go at the bottom of my Trek movie ranking (looking at you Into Darkness!)

Tonight I finished off the TOS era with The Undiscovered Country. I loved it, even more than previous viewings: I've never gone through TOS, TAS, and the original movies in order before now. Many of the episodes I've never seen before, and now that I've got to the very end of the original crew's run it was awfully sad to see them go.
I'm looking forward to starting TNG now, but it's going to take some getting used to again after spending so much time in the 23rd century era episodes/movies. I can better appreciate now how some fans in the 80s found TNG difficult to get into.

There are several things I liked about Star Trek V. First, its only 110 minutes. Second, there is warmth between the characters, especially when Sybok revealed their deepest pains. Third, I liked that Star Trek V was a standalone story that tried to be both an adventure story and story that broached ideas. I thought Shatner seemed more energetic than he appeared in Star Trek IV. Although there are obviously TNG sets in Star Trek V, the ship looks great, and so does the cinematography. I liked the variety of uniforms that appeared in the film. Shatner really did a decent job as a director. I think his work is more stylish than Nimoy. Lastly, the great Jerry Goldsmith composed the music. It really fits the film. To me Star Trek V almost felt almost like a pleasant but average two part episode of TNG, which is more than I say for the TNG films themselves. Because there are some similarities to TMP and because Star Trek V addresses friendship and family, it would not have been a bad bookend to the classic film franchise.

TOS "The Conscience of the King" - I found the end very unsatisfying because I wanted Lenore Karidian dead as well; she was a serial killer and therefore every bit the psychopath her father was; a premeditated killer like her can never be fixed. Like "Turnabout Intruder" the ending was all wrong because it let these murderous female monsters survive, when these two horrid women needed to be put out of the galaxy's misery.

I thought Lenore Karidian was more sympathetic than Janice Lester but they both deserve a one way ticket to Stoney Lonesome.

Lenore was younger, more naive and less filled with utter rage than Janice Lester, that much is true. I found Lester possibly the most detestable female character I've ever seen in Star Trek.

But then again, in real life I've known utter psycho-bitches a lot like Janice Lester which is probably why I was so utterly repulsed by her psycho-bitch character.

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. I enjoyed it more than I did the last time I watched it. I liked Shatner's performance overall but sometimes he feels less like the Kirk from the original series and more like William Shatner casually delivering lines. I hated his delivery of that self- parodying line at the end of the film: "Well, once again we have saved civilization as we know it."
