List Only! Last Star Trek Episode You Watched

"Yesterday's Enterprise": A good episode but a little overrated in my opinion.

I always thought so. It took me the bluray remaster to appreciate how stylishly directed this episode is. I liked the subtle animosity between Picard and Riker. Great ending, Picard defending the Enterprise as the last man standing.

"Hollow Pursuits": I just love that episode! Barclay is a great character. They should have used him more.

"The Most Toys": I don't get why Data lied about the weapon's discharge. Killing him at the moment he tried it was the only way to stop Fajo as he made it quite clear, he wouldn't stop on his own.

Faces (VOY) - this is another take on the whole Enemy Within concept of needing the part of you that you despise, portrayed very literally in this case. The resolution is a little too easy, but it's a nice way for B'Elanna to do something other than be angry. The Vidiians continue to be not quite as scary as they should be, for body horror villains.

Jetrel (VOY) - this one is pretty good really, and the first real use of Neelix to actually do something. I thought the forgiveness beat at the end was a bit difficult to buy, as is the explanation for Jetrel's initial deception, but the emotional elements hit home and they weren't afraid to give Ethan Phillips some meaty scenes at last. The obvious comparison point is Duet, which is good pedigree, but this one isn't quite on the same level.

"It is so accurate that you could clip the wing of an Angel dancing on the head of a pin"
DS9 - Season 7 Episode 5 - Chrysalis

"Sarek": BTW, the piece that makes Sarek weep is not by Mozart but by Brahms, just as an FYI.

"The Best Of Both Worlds I and II": That Shelby is caliente!!!

That was an interesting experience, going through all of TNG. And I did it with two weeks to spare. Expect a thread from me in the TNG Forum in the near-future, after I've gathered all my thoughts.

But from here on out, it's back to watching whatever whenever I feel like it.

I've changed my mind about going back to watching "whatever whenever". The next thing I'm doing is going through TOS again.

I'll have a fresh in my mind 40-year-old's perspective from 2020 of both series from start-to-finish, top-to-bottom instead of faded memory from way back when. You know how TOS and TNG were remastered? I'm remastering my own perspective and experience.

Lifesigns - One of the things I noticed with this episode is it felt like a prequel of sorts to the classic "Someone to Watch Over Me". Here, the Doctor is learning about love and relationship from Kes, and in that episode, the Doctor is teaching Seven the same kind of thing. For all the talk about Kes not being written well, I say hogwash. Kes singlehandedly set the Doctor on his course towards being a fully living hologram and even fighting for hologram rights. Who knows what the Doctor would have been had Kes not been there to push him along the way. As for the rest of the episode, I love this one so much. I wish Danara Pel had been a somewhat regular, but she got two pretty good episodes.

Investigations - Ah yes, let's end the Michael Jonas arc with an idea that only lasted one episode, A Briefing with Neelix. The set up was pretty good, the conclusion left a lot to be desired. However, I will say I wonder if Threshold had a hand in setting this whole arc up, in terms of Paris being a malcontent. I mean he's lamenting about the inability to respect himself and the very next episode is when this arc pretty much starts. Also interesting to see Neelix and Tom's relationship after the events of Purturition. I would say Season 2 was the closest Voyager got to having a season long arc.

"Family": Have we time-traveled back to the 1950s? If I had the misfortune of having a prick like that as a brother, the only way you'd get me to meet him would be to identify his body in the morgue!!!

"Brother": Lore is a nasty piece of shit but he's definitely superior to Data. Why did he think he needed an emotional chip for, he already had them! If anything he needed to tone them down a bit.

TNG: "Hero Worship" This is one I haven't actually seen in forever. It was better than I remembered!

"Suddenly Human": A species bent on being as annoying as possible!!! I now hit mute during the interminable yelping parts!!

"Legacy": Muscular girl! Take a look at these shoulders! I bet she's a competent fighter too and I don't mean the TV kind.

"Final Mission": I swear, the first time I saw it, I knew the bozo wouldn't make it. Btw, he's the one who plays Bilby in DS9's "Honor Among Thieves".

"Legacy": Muscular girl! Take a look at these shoulders! I bet she's a competent fighter too and I don't mean the TV kind.
.

Yeah, it's largely a great episode but once they get Ishara Yar out of Perpugilliam Brown's wardrobe and into something proper for clothing it coincidentally gets a lot better... what was it with the late-80s and ballet leotards being casual wear?!

TNG - "Where No One Has Gone Before" (TNG's first virtually rock-solid classic, very impressive for how early it is in the show's fledgling year, and the original post-Triangulum M33 galactic f/x were done on 35mm and the result in HD is as gorgeous as anything could get...)
