List of Trek questions that keep us up at night

^Perhaps that was after she morphed into a walking, talking, 3-year-old a little more than a year after she was born. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the newborn in "Disaster" wasn't the same actress.

Ah, I suppose so. Meh, obviously the TNG folks didn't want to deal with twins or triplets like they'd have to if they were going to have a real baby on the show. Hardly the first time something like this has happened.

Actually, TV in general seems to have trouble with children aging. They either age too quickly or too slowly.

That's what I tend to explain to myself the reasons for Alexander and Naomi, but Molly always seemed to me to grow from baby in 'Disaster' to toddling in 'A Man Alone', a period of only a few months. The baby Molly was played by the Tadeski twins.

I think the borg have lost their way. Back in Picard's time they were interested in assimilating people, species not technology. Somehow along the way they shifted their focus from people to technology and where only interested in people that possessed great technology. The end result is that Picard's borg are very different from Janeway's borg, in many ways.

I don't know what you mean by that. It's obvious that back in Locutus time the borg weren't interested in technology but in people. Locutus never said anything about "your technological bullshit will be made part of our own" he said instead that each of the species of the federation would be made part of the borg..; Just read the script!!!

The technological patter is a late addition.

Not quite, originally the Borg were interested only in technology, going so far as to scoop it off planets leaving huge craters. in fact Q tells them "They're simply interested in your ship, its technology" in Q Who. Best of both worlds Part I was the first appearance of "We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own". When the writers wanted a reason for Picard to be kidnapped they added the Borg assimilating people. Prior to that there was no indication where Borg drones come from. Assimilating people is the retcon not technology.

^^It's more convoluted than that. TBOBW Part 1 treats turning Picard into a Borg as something new and different. Suddenly in Part 2 everyone abruptly starts talking about assimilation as though it's SOP.

No, they are not.

The one who played Morn is named Mark Shepherd.
The one who was Icheb's father (and Romo Lampkin and Crowley from Supernatural and Canton Everett Delaware from DW, etc.) is Mark Sheppard.

Not the same person at all.

Although Shepherd did have another role, as the Bajoran who sits in Morn's old chair.
Someone upthread corrected me already. There was no need for you to do it a second time, as I fully understood and accepted his post.

Come to think of it, you're right, they've retconned it the other way.

How would the tourists view the historical sites, the homes of the US founding fathers and places like that? They surely would appear barbaric and incredibly hypocritical to the 24th century folks (some of them already do to some folks today).

well, regarding a reason to assimilate Picard, it could have been extract from his mind thing relative starfleet strenght, earth defences, codes (improbable, they can be changed or deleted), or starfleet plans to oppose borg invasion.

Generally, borg could be interested in people because, being them cyborg, they can study new lifeform and improve their organic parts efficency, or study them to develop new technology

I don't understand why someone should think Monticello slave plantation and Jefferson are hypocrital since Jefferson explaned his toughts regarding slavery

I hope so, for the sake of future generations.

They probably would still despise his reasons for not letting it go. They'd find it illlogical or weak or something.

So do I :vulcan:
