I've been a fan of Lions Gate films for some time now, and I was wondering what everyone else thought of the distributor. They usually pick up films I find interesting. I find I'm always recommending these films to people who have never even heard of them.
American Psycho (2000)
I watched this because I'm a big fan of Christian Bale. I think it could have been a little bit better, but I was impressed overall.
Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000) [C-]
This film is mindless fun. I'd rather watch it again that to have to watch the original... that's for sure.
Shadow of the Vampire (2000) [B+]
I really enjoyed this movie. Willem Dafoe is great. It was an interesting take on the "secret history" of Nosferatu. The ending is just teriffic.
Requiem for a Dream (2000)
I enjoyed it at the time, but it's kind of forgettable film in the long run. There are some good performances.
Cube 2: Hypercube (2002) [B-]
Nothing can ever live up to the original, but I think this is a fun movie. Cube Zero is a little better than this one, though.
The Cat's Meow (2002)
I bet no one's even heard of this one. It's not even horror or an off the wall movie... and it has Kirsten Dunst. Look it up.
High Tension (2003) [B-]
This is a good little horror flick aside from the somewhat ridiculous ending. It requires some suspension of disbelief
House of 1000 Corpses (2003) [C]
The Devil's Rejects is so good, that it makes this film look ridiculous in comparison. I do commend Rob Zombie for trying his hand at directing, though.
Cube Zero (2003) [B-]
I think I'm just upset at the movie for trying to take away some of the mystery of Cube... and even Hypercube. It's an alright film.
Fahrenheit 9/11 (2003) [A]
This isn't The Neutral Zone, but I enjoyed the film
Saw (2003) [A]
One of my favorite movies, and not just because of the gore. I think the story is actual very interesting. I've never cared for the sequels though.
Crash (2005) [A]
Obviously this movie garnered a lot of attention. It was my favorite movie of 2005 by far.
The Devil's Rejects (2005) [A-]
This is a fun, quirky movie with a great soundtrack to boot. It definitely needs a rewatch.
Hostel (2005)
I actually didn't really enjoy this movie the first time around. After a second viewing, I began to really appreciate it.
The Descent (2006) [A+]
My favorite horror film, hands down. I have seen this movie about a dozen times now and I never tire of it. I love watching it with new people and see them be scared out of their mind.
Employee of the Month (2006) [B-]
It's over the top, but that's okay. I worked as a cashier for a long time, so I found a lot of this stuff funny.
Hard Candy (2006) [C+]
Ellen Page plays a girl wise beyond her years involved in a predatory situation... sounds familiar, and it kind of is. I don't want to give anything away, but this film disturbing despite a lackluster script.
3:10 To Yuma (2007) [A]
I didn't realize I liked westerns until I watched this film. It's very skillfully done with some great acting. I probably wouldn't have watched if had hadn't been for Christian Bale, honestly. I was on a big 'The Prestige' kick.
Bug (2007) [B+]
This was a disturbing film. It's shocking that there are people in the world who probably actually think this way, too.
Good Luck Chuck (2007)
It's a good popcorn flick. Dane Cook is always funny to watch.
Hostel: Part II (2007) [F]
One of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. I want my hour and a half back.
I'm currently watching Teeth and am very much enjoying it.
