I've been a fan of Lions Gate films for some time now, and I was wondering what everyone else thought of the distributor. They usually pick up films I find interesting. I find I'm always recommending these films to people who have never even heard of them.

American Psycho (2000)
I watched this because I'm a big fan of Christian Bale. I think it could have been a little bit better, but I was impressed overall.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000) [C-]
This film is mindless fun. I'd rather watch it again that to have to watch the original... that's for sure.

Shadow of the Vampire (2000) [B+]
I really enjoyed this movie. Willem Dafoe is great. It was an interesting take on the "secret history" of Nosferatu. The ending is just teriffic.

Requiem for a Dream (2000)
I enjoyed it at the time, but it's kind of forgettable film in the long run. There are some good performances.

Cube 2: Hypercube (2002) [B-]
Nothing can ever live up to the original, but I think this is a fun movie. Cube Zero is a little better than this one, though.

The Cat's Meow (2002)
I bet no one's even heard of this one. It's not even horror or an off the wall movie... and it has Kirsten Dunst. Look it up.

High Tension (2003) [B-]
This is a good little horror flick aside from the somewhat ridiculous ending. It requires some suspension of disbelief

House of 1000 Corpses (2003) [C]
The Devil's Rejects is so good, that it makes this film look ridiculous in comparison. I do commend Rob Zombie for trying his hand at directing, though.

Cube Zero (2003) [B-]
I think I'm just upset at the movie for trying to take away some of the mystery of Cube... and even Hypercube. It's an alright film.

Fahrenheit 9/11 (2003) [A]
This isn't The Neutral Zone, but I enjoyed the film

Saw (2003) [A]
One of my favorite movies, and not just because of the gore. I think the story is actual very interesting. I've never cared for the sequels though.

Crash (2005) [A]
Obviously this movie garnered a lot of attention. It was my favorite movie of 2005 by far.

The Devil's Rejects (2005) [A-]
This is a fun, quirky movie with a great soundtrack to boot. It definitely needs a rewatch.

Hostel (2005)
I actually didn't really enjoy this movie the first time around. After a second viewing, I began to really appreciate it.

The Descent (2006) [A+]
My favorite horror film, hands down. I have seen this movie about a dozen times now and I never tire of it. I love watching it with new people and see them be scared out of their mind.

Employee of the Month (2006) [B-]
It's over the top, but that's okay. I worked as a cashier for a long time, so I found a lot of this stuff funny.

Hard Candy (2006) [C+]
Ellen Page plays a girl wise beyond her years involved in a predatory situation... sounds familiar, and it kind of is. I don't want to give anything away, but this film disturbing despite a lackluster script.

3:10 To Yuma (2007) [A]
I didn't realize I liked westerns until I watched this film. It's very skillfully done with some great acting. I probably wouldn't have watched if had hadn't been for Christian Bale, honestly. I was on a big 'The Prestige' kick.

Bug (2007) [B+]
This was a disturbing film. It's shocking that there are people in the world who probably actually think this way, too.

Good Luck Chuck (2007)
It's a good popcorn flick. Dane Cook is always funny to watch.

Hostel: Part II (2007) [F]
One of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. I want my hour and a half back.

I'm currently watching Teeth and am very much enjoying it.

Here's a List so you can see what you've seen.

The thing about Lionsgate is that they'll distribute anything that will make money, which means you'll find a lot of thrillers and horror releases under their banner. Beats the crap filmmakers might get from bigger studios, I suppose.

Forgettable? This movie disturbed me to the core. I will NEVER forget it. And as good as it is, I'll probably NEVER watch it again.

I've always found Lionsgate to be the worst studio ever.

I'm not a horror/weird freak movie fan so I guess their stuff doesn't appeal. I haven't liked a single film they've done, except maybe Robo 2 back way when.

Robo2 wasn't lionsgate, it was Orion. There is actually an ASCii code joke that the fx guys put into robo's spewreadout, 'avoid orion meeting' ... and those suckers caught it and made them take it out.

When lionsgate was smallfry, they distributed the dvd of the Kyle M ROSWELL, which looked like crap. I remember complaining to them and got back the most lackadasical, 'nobody else bitched' letter I've seen in awhile. Made me want to boycott their stuff, though lately I've wound up seeing quite a bit on dvd (almost impossible to avoid, lots of good stuff like BANK JOB.)

I haven't seen many of their movies, but I love The Lost Room, easily one of my favorite TV shows/miniseries of all time. It's too bad it never got picked up as a full series.

I don't drink anymore, and as a result there's very little reason for me to pop the RoboCop 2 DVD in anytime soon, but I'm almost positive that it's still in the movie, as part of the hojillion Prime Directives that OCP puts into Robo's head.

Edit: IMDb says I'm right:

RoboCop's new directives are (in numerical order): - DIRECTIVE 233: Restrain hostile feelings. - DIRECTIVE 234: Promote positive attitude. - DIRECTIVE 235: Suppress aggressiveness. - DIRECTIVE 236: Promote pro-social values. - DIRECTIVE 238: Avoid destructive behavior. - DIRECTIVE 239: Be accessible. - DIRECTIVE 240: Participate in group activities. - DIRECTIVE 241: Avoid interpersonal conflicts. - DIRECTIVE 242: Avoid premature value judgments. - DIRECTIVE 243: Pool opinions before expressing yourself. - DIRECTIVE 244: Discourage feelings of negativity and hostility. - DIRECTIVE 245: If you haven't got anything nice to say, don't talk. - DIRECTIVE 246: Don't rush traffic lights. - DIRECTIVE 247: Don't run through puddles and splash pedestrians or other cars. - DIRECTIVE 248: Don't say that you are always prompt when you are not. - DIRECTIVE 249: Don't be oversensitive to the hostility and negativity of others. - DIRECTIVE 250: Don't walk across a ballroom floor swinging your arms. - DIRECTIVE 254: Encourage awareness. - DIRECTIVE 256: Discourage harsh language. - DIRECTIVE 258: Commend sincere efforts. - DIRECTIVE 261: Talk things out. - DIRECTIVE 262: Avoid Orion meetings. - DIRECTIVE 266: Smile. - DIRECTIVE 267: Keep an open mind. - DIRECTIVE 268: Encourage participation. - DIRECTIVE 273: Avoid stereotyping. - DIRECTIVE 278: Seek non-violent solutions.
