Anyone been watching the new series?
I just don't know who to trust this series, I need to know what maneet is up to.

Not quite as on the nail as the previous seasons and some of the "twists" seem a little forced, but still appointment TV.

I've been in love with Thandie Newton since that abomination, Mission Impossible 2, so watching her eat, chew and spit out the old Super was magnificent (even if it's all bullshit).

The thing I loved the most about the first 3 seasons was how interconnected it all was. Even though they got rid of the main antagonists at the end of S3, I was hoping they were going to tie it all together this year by linking the deaths of the females to the larger Sex Trafficking angle that was played through S2/3 and we would eventually get to the Big Boss who was controlling the likes of Dot etc.

Bit of a slow boil this week, getting a few spanners in the works whilst lining up the coming denouement.

Roll on next Sunday

Hugo - just to say Sir, it's not James, it's Jamie...

I've been regularly watching it and I think It's cracking so far.

As for why Hilton has it in for AC12, perhaps he has connections to the prior seasons?

I thought Hilton had been in prior seasons, unless they had a very similar weasley ACC?

This show is so good, the writer/director are so good at making a simple interview as engrossing as a running gun-battle. The way Thandie Newton turned the interview on its head and started interrogating Hastings was masterful, credit to all the actors involved. There was a time when I wasn't the greatest fan of Newton (I thought she came across as cold) but in both Westworld and this she's been fantastic.

It will be a trifle contrived if her husband is the rapist, but that seems very likely. I did think they were pulling the same fast one they pulled in S3 when they killed Mays off really early. Still think S2 and Keeley Hawes was the best season but this one's a close second.

Just looked on IMDB he was in series 1 I can't remember him at all.

Nah he was a lickspittal chief super in series 1, pushing papers, being unimpressive, but only a few scenes here and there. Very much enjoyed watching him get played by Roz, even if she's the mist callous of the "targets" so far.

I'm not sure, yes she's been pretty ruthless but there's no indication she wasn't a by the book copper before this. Lennie James in season 1 was long term corrupt though.

I don't know why she didn't just fess up re Timothy Ifield. He had her on a plastic sheet and was about to carve her up! That's pretty cast iron self defence!

I was thinking the same thing.
I mean nothing screams self defence more than cctv footage of the guy buying the stuff he was going to use to get rid of your body.

Radio Times suggests that viewers swot up on previous seasons before part five, so major connections may be coming.

I'm watching series one and Hilton keeps going on about officers from the south.
I think he means black officers. Has anyone ever heard this term?

I think the writers are losing it a bit no one can discharge themselves from hospital and frame their husband for murder after just having their hand cut off.
And as for DC what's his name, all they had to do was see if he had swiped out of the building for the night and check the camera to see he was not the one downloading the information.

Well I wouldn't say someone couldn't do it, but yes it does stretch credulity a bit, but then Line of Duty does have form for getting a little preposterous at times (take Kate's running pursuit of Dot at the end of series 3).

Their timescales do seem out as well. Steve had some physio then was released, even though he clearly wasn't fit to go home. I felt sorry for Jamie (is it Jamie? ;)) and agree, Hastings should have delved further, and the DC should have stood up for himself more.

I'm a little disappointed that the show has skewed away from some of the subtle stuff it was tackling re sexism in the opening episodes; Huntley having a cloud over her because she left to have kids, the fact that once Roz was replaced the victims were back to being spoken of as prostitutes once more rather than as women, the fact that Ted would go for a beer with Steve to discuss promotion but not with Kate because of how it would look.

I think Roz has become too much of a cold manipulative genius as well. At first, even if you didn't agree with her, you got the feeling she was a decent cop but the lengths she's gone to now just make you utterly hate her (in many ways she's the reverse Lindsey Denton in that respect) and the young DC Jodie is in for a rude awakening sooner or later.

I'm guessing her husband is innocent, and that it's the lawyer who either attacked Steve or arranged for him to be attacked. Did they ever catch the person who chucked Jessica Raine out of the window in S2? I can't remember.

I haven't heard if there's going to be another series, they seem to be tying up a lot of loose ends with regard to the previous seasons, Hilton is clearly bent as a ten bob note. If it does carry on I expect Kate to get the inspector gig, which will make for an interesting dynamic if Steve stays, though if she's an inspector I guess her days of undercover work are over. This means either Steve becoming the undercover officer, or else a new character with Steve's injury being used to write him out or relegate him to a desk job. Always assuming there is another series.

Trailer for the last ep.

Well Roz seems to have the world's most understanding husband.:rommie:
Again I felt a little let down with the ending, with all these bullets flying around for the second time you think the press and the internet would be all over the story about a top secret organisation who are black mailing coppers to do the evil bidding.
At the very least I would expect May to set up a parliamentary commission to make sure we have a strong and stable police force.:D

Just seen a interview the writer is a bit of a trekkie.

I think that ended better than S3, certainly slightly less preposterous.

Loved that final interview. "Am I still a police officer?" glad Roz remembered she was a decent copper, once. Shame Jamie let himself be drawn into things.

Is it just me or are they going out of their way to make us suspect Hastings is H? The notion is ridiculous but I guess it is possible, he did shoot balaclasva man after all! Seriously though, not Ted, please not Ted!
