Let's speculate on the deep, dark secret

Technically this malevolent force might be an explanation why there are so few super-advanced races. I guess it's possible they're the same the people from Soji's planet, but the Zhat Vash would probably know.

Actually, the Tkon empire capital planet was destroyed by a supernova and there is no mention of when the supernova took place. Which mean they defeated their synths sometime before the supernova. I don't think that the Synths on the synths planet cause either supernova. We don't even know if they're the same synths.

Maybe the synth civilization exists for a very long time and destroyed both the Tkon and the Romulan Star Empire to keep themselves save and hidden.

Perhaps the Zhat Vash are right and the synths destroy biological species and empires, which reach a technological progress that allows them to create and enslave artificial life.
Another one that was easily merged into an existing thread. Honestly, we don't need a separate thread for every odd theory. Also, the thread title was pretty damn spoilerish.

Soong's work was based on Borg technology and therefore every Synth created by the Daystrom Institue is secretly a Borg

Could Data, Lore, B-4 and all of the other Synths created based on Soong's work, actually be part of the continuing attack against humanity that Dr. Arik Soong hoped for? In the end Dr. Soong would be surrounded by his children that would do his beck and call as he became the master of the entire galaxy. Dr. Arik Soong was a master geneticist and cybernetisis who I believe wanted to dominate all of the galaxy in the form of a living God.

No offense to anyone, but I'm really glad many of you guys aren't in charge of the series. The "dark secrets" you're proposing would not only run contrary to the themes of the series to date, but also the fundamental Roddenberry ethos.

The idea that - after all this - the series is going to end with "the Zhat Vash is right?" It's like Trek defending white supremacy.

**shakes head in dismay**

And honestly, that is what worries me about the conclusion of this season. It's the possibility the writers wrote themselves into a corner and now can't deliver what ever the truly horrible secret is that would drive people to suicide just from having seen it.

Like others have suggested, there doesn't necessarily need to be one. The memory transfer from the Admonition could contain a mental virus/poison unrelated to the information it contains, or not really be compatible with the minds of the current humanoid species. In that case, whilst the secret is associated with the madness, the secret might not be the cause of it.

I also get the impression that it might also be significant that only women are being shown the secret information. I don't know to what end though.

I don't think the T'Kon (and perhaps the Iconians alongside them) were eradicated by their androids and other AI creations, it's implied in the warning that if a galactic civilisation advances to the point that AIs become too biomechanical or autonomou,s etc, with their own ecosystem, this extra galactic threat slowly wakes up, rolls in, and cleans the slate.

Maybe even the Borg Collective was founded in the first place to prepare for this old enemy, and it also forced Control's hand in eradicating sentient life in the other timeline.

It probably will be mention in future episodes of what the warning is and what not to do. It might be not treat the robots and androids under you like slaves, or it could be something else, like not use them to fight your wars for you.

Plus, based on the conference in La Sirena, they imply that as well. Picard mentioned a threshold, then Rios mentions the warp barrier. Implying that it's a event that attracts someone's attention, just like Cochrane attracted the attention of the Vulcans.

Yeah, I wondered about that too.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, perhaps in other threads, but I also wondered if this implies some potential link to the Qowat Milat here -- it seems too much to be coincidence that those two groups clearly know about each other, clearly have history together, and clearly seem to have some antagonism going on. Seems a bit Ying and Yang.

Is Narek fully Zhat Vhash or just Tal Shiar and working for his sister? He certainly seems to know much but does he know all?

This new menace sound very, very slow to rouse and unstoppable in its fury if they (or it) apparently rendered the T'Kon and Iconians, despite their super tech, virtual extinct eons ago.

Yeah, androids are innocent red herrings, seem relatively docile, and just want to be left alone.

Yeah, that's my feeling about it too, but if they do a not-great job of explaining it, then it won't make a lot of sense.

Could the ancient sythetic race be who was responsible for creating V'ger? Or some thing completely new and unheard of?

Probably something completely new. At least I am hoping it is completely new. I think it is more interesting to broaden Trek lore rather than always reuse something already seen or connect everything to everything. It leads to a small universe syndrome.
