Latest acquisition!

Yeah, I just didn't think to look at the dimensions when I bought it. It's not a problem, it was just a surprise.
Just for reference here are the dimensions
USS Crew Handbook: 8.26x0.61x11.21 inches
Vulcan Travel Guide: 6.06x9 inches

New Trek stuff by Ian McLean, on Flickr

IDW has released an "ashcan" preview comic of the forthcoming "Star Trek" comic mini-series, "The Last Starship", "Voyager: Homecoming" and "Strange New Worlds: The Seeds of Salvation". Also arrived is the Blu-Ray of "Star Trek: Section 31".

And a future acquisition, coming from IDW in 2026:

New Trek stuff by Ian McLean, on Flickr

New this week: "The Complete Fan Guide to Star Trek and Discovery Season 5" magazine (a360media, 2024); "Inspired Enterprise: How NASA, the Smithsonian and the Aerospace Community Helped Launch Star Trek" by Glen E Swanson (Schiffer, 2025); and "The Story of Star Trek: Los Angeles Times, as Told in Headlines Since 1966" (Historic Newspapers UK, 2025).

The "Los Angeles Times" book is essentially a scrapbook of articles without the glue blobs! It gets personalised to the person ordering and seems to have every newspaper article published by the LA Times about Star Trek from 1966 to 2024!

Also, I put this post below into FanFic, but would be of interest to denizens of this thread, too?

Generative AI steals from creators and destroys the environment, and is a scam being pushed by tech billionaires in hopes that they can fire their employees. There is no ethical way to use it, so please do not use it.

I don't intend to use it again, nor make regular ongoing use of it, but I was still curious to see exactly what this was like. Many school students are already using it to write essays and testing these things are really the only way to see how good/bad they are. I joined Facebook, PhotoPeach and Wikipedia to find out how they worked, too, when I was working with students who were already using it.

I fear they won't ever get the A.I. genie back in the bottle. Ignoring it is not going to make it go away.

It's a scam that's mostly being forced into the market by a handful of tech billionaires who hope to profit from it. Once people realize it's useless and actively dangerous to rely on as a source of advice, there will probably be lawsuits that will kill the industry or at least impose severe restrictions on it.

And there's no way to eradicate smoking, but that doesn't mean it's okay to do it and risk your own and others' health. We can always, always make a personal choice to avoid using something harmful.

I don't know if it was in the version that passed, but at one point the Big Ugly Bill was going to make it illegal to put any restrictions on A.I. development.
