The Medusa Touch

This was a great little gem from 1978, which till now I didn't realize it was a late 70s movie but it's really good despite the age. It's not long, doesn't overstay its welcome and is a nice tight story about a man who thinks he can cause disasters or accidents, and as it turns out yes he can. The movie starts out with him watching TV about some space mission and someone who I don't think we find out gets into his apartment after he lets them in, then proceeds to clonk him on the head more than a few times with a statue.

The movie picks up with a British cop and French investigator pouring over this guys life, and the French guy is rather dogged about this and won't let go of the case. They interview lots of people and he fixes on the guys doctor, a Dr. Zonfeld who is played by the rather gorgeous Lee Remick and sticks with her for most of the movie, I won't spoil the rest because it's worth at least one watch and it's not at all boring though in some parts does feel slightly slow.

7/10

Also on the bluray I have there are commentary tracks and a behind the scenes feature on how they accomplished the cathedral collapse which is one of the biggest effects parts of the movie.

This movie makes me think about the Australian horror movie Patrick

The super Mario movie was enjoyable 8/10

The Devil wears Prada 2 had a good concept, but started fumbling halfway through the movie and ended with disappointment 6/10

Starman. Can't believe I haven't seen it until now, but it's held up reasonably well given its age and feels quite ahead of time in many respects. They've even left it open for a possible sequel, which they could still decide to do decades later.

Here's how I think it would go: Karen Allen's character and SETI guy get married and together they bring up the new kid as their kid. Eventually, the kid after feeling like he's very different, gets wind about who his real father is. He gets interested in astronomy and eventually becomes a NASA astronaut, with a mission that takes him out to Starman's world.
