Lady Gaga

I've avoided her albums until just now...and I'm enjoying them. This is far from my fave genre of music but it's actually good...or I'm really just that exhausted.

Oh, I love her. Not liking the stuff from the new album quite as much, though. "Edge Of Glory" is catchy and "Born This Way" is growing on me but it's nearly a Madonna pastiche. "Judas" is meh.

Lady Gaga's stuff is much smarter and better than her mass media image would tend to suggest. Much more substantive. I do, however, think that her desire to achieve fame and popularity, and to be danceable, stands in the way of her artistic growth. It would be interesting to see her do more "Speechless" and less "Telephone."

I think she's building momentum right now. I've seen plenty of artists start with glitz and easy beats and end up becoming very strong artists in their own right.

The two songs from her new album are horrible messes that song like gay 80s club music.

I have been listening to Terra Noami sing Judas and it's a decent song, only Lady Gaga singing it is bad.

LOVED her first album. Not liking Born This Way, Judas and Hair so much. They seem more generic, like they're missing an edge.

I only know a few Gaga songs (kind of hard to avoid them!) and they're not bad. Not brilliant or ground breaking, either, but decent enough.

My favorite Gaga cover:

I love "Papparazzi" and the Fame Monster album. I also like her "be proud to be you" stance - easy for older people to be cynical about, but it can mean a lot to a teenager. Her latest batch of singles haven't really bowled me over, though - "Judas" is OK, but "Born This Way" is forgettable and far too obvious.

To this old musician (51), Gaga is nothing more than a Madonna imitator. I'm sick of her making the top of the news for clearing her throat.

She's alright, I heard one of her tunes on the radio the other day though as was struck by the fact it could have been one of any number of current female pop artists. She certainly is a diverse performance artist, but I don't think her songs are particularly original or interesting.

Then again I have only heard a few singles. Perhaps her albums are more eclectic.

I do not think she is a Madonna copy..and the constant media frenzy is not always her own doing.
What I like about Lady Gaga herself is that success has not made a superficial, fake bitch:techman:
The Image that I have about her is of talented artist, who is pretty much doing what she wants to do, in her own way and I respect her for that.:)
Plus she seems like a nice person.
I think there are much more "useless" singers out there, IMHO..though that is a matter of taste.

BTW, Lady Gaga was recently as guest editor on the Metro newspaper:cool::

I have never heard any of Lady Gaga's songs, nor do I ever want to. All I know about her is that she is completely unattractive to me. And that's not even counting that weird shit she pulls, like wearing dresses made of meat and all that. She just does nothing for me.

It did piss me off when she would show up at baseball games in NYC and act like a drunk bitch, flipping people off and all that crap. Somebody should have thrown a beer at her.

Click for more info on that stupid bullshit, by the way. :sigh:

I don't mind 'Bad Romance' but most of her songs don't appeal to me.

Not a huge fan of Gaga. I probably wouldn't buy her albums, like I do with Rihanna, and I don't like her over-the-top actions, but some of her music is decent.

Edge Of Glory, Just Dance, Paparazzi, Judas and her duet with Beyonce, Telephone, are all brilliant.

Bad Romance, Born This Way, Alejandro and Poker Face are merely ok.

I do think she's overrated by a lot of her fans though, and that puts me off her slightly.

But half the time, she can produce some really decent pop music. It's her hit-and-miss style (for me) that bothers me.

You should give some of her songs a try. "Bad Romance," "Speechless," "Dance in the Dark," and "Monster" are all good.

Lady Gaga - We're sure she's not a dude, right?

That's one of the things I like about her -- she plays with traditional gender roles in a way that undermines normal conceptions of female beauty and female identity.

Bottom line is: some folks here NEVER going to be convinced positively, no matter what may write...

Seriously? I approve of what she did, and if she pissed off Steinbrunner, all the better.

Oh teh noes! Lady Gaga showed up to a baseball game in a bikini with a jersey top! Baseball games are SRS Business!
