Kurtzman has all his fingers in the Trek pie. Put simply, he's the new Rick Berman.

Don't personally find his Trek as enjoyable as Berman's

Give him time. He's still relatively new. Berman had years to settle in and, to be fair, his involvement was my least favorite part of Enterprise, which benefited greatly from Manny Coto's new blood and fresh ideas. Kurtzman has a long way to go before he flames out spectacularly.

Hopefully he'll learn from the mistakes of the first Rick Berman. The fact they're looking for the new offerings to all have different tones is a good sign in that regard.
