That site doesn't load well on my computer... almost seems like a problem with frames or something (but I don't think that is it).

I just had a strange "ah ha???" moment when looking at pics from Out of the Blue, though. I hadn't really checked it out before, but I am a bit.... verklempt.... by the fact that, with that hair and mustache, he looks like a guy I dated for five years.
Kinda makes me wonder if that is part of my attraction... even though "my" guy and myself are both married to other people now. (He was one of those "you'll never forget, and will always love" guys.)
    Hmmmmmmm.

Hmmm.... still kinda wondering where the other Urban lovers went.
TrampleDamage (who seems to have a new name now?)
    Ms. Whatsit?
    Others?

I thought they'd be back to coo over RED stuff.

I feel like I arrived in this thread and promptly killed it.

I'm here!! I just haven't seen Red and have nothing to contribute. But I'm still here and still swooning/drooling over Karl.

    Crap!
    Busted!!

I bought Comanche Moon cause it looked like a neat movie, and, let's face it, he's got some good facial hair goin on.
And, cause it was super cheap, I got the Truth about Demons movie -- which is something I would NEVER normally watch. But an Amazon reviewer said "Karl Urban is naked and sweaty for most of the movie and is quite delicious..." so I caved.

But my husband looked at the newly-arrived DVDs and raised an eyebrow.
I said: "Well, I thought you would like Comanche Moon cause it is a western and...."
"..YOU DID NOT!.." (he laughed) "...you got it cause of that actor!! That's it. I want a divorce."
"Hey, I don't make fun of you for your porn, so you don't make fun of me for mine."
(another eyebrow raise, and he went back to his video game)

This is what the first-listed Amazon.com reviewer said. She says it is really just for Karl Urban fans:

"Yes, Karl Urban is very hot. He spends about 90% of the film either sweating, bleeding, running, half-naked or terrified. It's very delicious. "

YOu can see why I had to buy a movie I would never normally go near.

I've seen Comanche Moon, and it's pretty good. Give us a review about the Truth About Demons, please!

Don't know when I'll get to watch it. Probably early next week... Monday or Tuesday-ish.
I fully expect to hate the movie... so my review would likely focus on the amount of nakedness seen, placement of sweat, and quality of the sex scenes.

...but I don't say that like it is a bad thing. ;-)

I thought Comanche Moon was kind of dull, but I enjoyed Karl's performance. Steve Zahn was pretty good as Gus McCrae, too.

Ok... so here is my 10-second review of ...Demons.

    * He isn't half naked nearly enough. Though there is one scene where he is shirtless and wearing pants that ride so low we are about an inch from spying some of that magical goodness.

    * Sex scenes are blurred out. Damnit. Otherwise there was some super-hot potential. (Though with a tad of imagination and a finger on the rewind-button, they can still be super hot)

    * Yeah, he is terrified for most of the movie.

    * I want to interview him some day just so I can ask: "So... Demons... roaches in the mouth? Didn't look like that was faked. Gotta story to tell?"

In general: There is some surprsingly good directing at times. Some quite effective moments. But then... there are moments when you go "Oh, common, was THAT really necessary?" And then an homage to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom that caused me to completely phase out.

I also think he might have been doing work with a voice/speech instructor over the past few years, because the timbre of his voice is higher.
In the past I always thought it was the Kiwi vocal placement vs where he has learned to place his voice for the American accent... but after seeing RED interviews where he uses his Kiwi accent, I think he has worked to lower the timbre in general.
A good move, because the high voice he used to have is a tad less manly than some ladies (including me) would like.

Thus conclude-ith this down and dirty review of ...Demons.

    Hello! *waves*

I have seen Red - hubby took me to see it last weekend, and I've been meaning to get back in here to post about it, but I'm forgetful... :)

I loved the movie! But then it's completely my sort of movie - even without the addition of Karl :)

I reckon Karl is the natural successor to Bruce Willis. I mean, he's an even better actor but in terms of action movies, he's perfect for that stoic everyman hero that Bruce Willis plays.

I loved the first scene we get with Karl where he's on the phone to his wife - that's perfect.

Agreed, RED was fun even without the eye candy. And I love the scene on the phone too.... it was like "...ok... milk? 2%?.... sure... love ya.... " BANG he kills somebody... all in the same 4 seconds. Funny.

    Thank you!
I need a cigarette now... (and I don't even smoke).

I actually don't really care for how he looks in the soaking wet and bathtub scenes.
    Am I crazy?

:wtf: Ohmygosh... I never noticed he was (gasp) naked in the scene on the floor. Damn, what I wouldn't' give to be that actress (and have her cute, petite body).

    In other news:
Am I the only one highly-anticipating his new, buff, Dredd body?
Shame about the mask. But if he has brand new muscles, it could totally be worth the sacrifice.

My name is Maria, and I am shallow.

I am really looking forward to Karl as Dredd. mr trampledamage has something like the first 700 issues of 2000AD (the British weekly comic that Dredd first appeared in), and I spent a fun summer reading them all. I love the Judge Dredd stories - I think Karl will be brilliant, the strong silent type :)
