Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley developing Star Trek reboot for Paramount

Truly, the body count should have been higher. Worf was set up for an epic end. Pity they didn't take advantage of it. Picard himself needed a fitting close to his story. And either Deanna or Will should have had some kind of noble sacrifice, leaving the other to grieve. It would have given the whole thing "stakes".

And other such nonsense.
Ah, but then Matalas wouldn't be able to play with those action figures from his toybox again.

Nemesis did that and look what happened. Someone else would just come along with an equally chatgpt quality script just to try and undo it.

Nemesis killed Data and left the door open wider for his return than Wrath of Khan would have ever considered. No ChatGPT required.

Let's get serious here.

James Kirk has managed to stay dead (no, we're not counting novels and fan films) for over 30 years.

It's not that they killed Ro, it's not even that they killed Shelby (in a really dumb way because if there is anyone who's going to be lackadaisical about the Borg, it's Shelby). It's that they brought back these characters after all of this time ONLY to kill them.

I'm surprised they didn't figure a way to get Saavik in on the "fun".

It's still lazy and just a big ctrl+z with no real purpose behind it. Search for Spock may not be one of the stronger films but at least the resurrection was part of a plot.

Thank god.

Or just as fake outs as the behind the scenes suggests.

They blew up a shuttle named Saavik in Picard season 3. Does that count?

It certainly shows the mind set.
