TOS as a dramatization not existing exactly as shown

That was Roddenberry's absurd attempt at revision, which was not the reality of the films---including the one movie he was most associated with. TOS is the "real" account of events (and no one--outside of Roddenberry--associated with the films ever denied it), and its world (especially its 1701 designs as mentioned time and again) was evolved as one would expect in stories taking place several years later, whether advocates of would-be revision accept that or not.

Moreover, the DS9 anniversary episode is canon--an episode where a TOS episode was taken as and experienced at face value as the real account, not some "dramatization" of events from the six DS9 characters who fully interacted with TOS' universe/story. The same applies to ENT's 4th season TOS-themed episode. It is interesting to see real ST--canonical ST reinforce the opposite of Roddenberry's failed revisionism attempt from TMP's era.

It's art and open to interpretation. You enjoy it your way and I shall enjoy it mine. TMP to TNG works. TOS to TNG doesn't as straight history.

True. You are free to enjoy it any way you like. But Trekgod is right. There has always been a clear evolution of tech and interior look from tos to voyager. Also even Enterprise had a retro look that didnt feel over advanced to TOS such as a smaller bridge, smaller corridors, smaller and more primitive transporter etc. Kurtzman shows are the only ones that broke this tradition. All their shown times lines are starting to blur now. STDs tech seem and look seemed much more advanced than even TNG. STPs first two seasons felt more like STD in look and story. Only the 3rd started gi get us back to a tng look but even that looked loke STD with the neon strip lighting, darker bridge and window viewscreen. Section 31. Sigh. That terrible movie took place in what maybe the 2320s? Looked nothing like we would expect the era to look like. Looked just like STD. 32nd century same deal. A thousand years later they're still using orange SNW style doors, neon strip lighting to lifht the bridges and still using PADDs etc. Its stretching credibility. Kurtzman abandoned company just dont care. It used to be fun to see the clear evolution from the shows but now we don't have that.
