Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley developing Star Trek reboot for Paramount

It doesn't have to. The reason though is it would be the right amount of fan wank. We are talking about almost all new characters each season since we would be doing time and location jumps. Shran would be like one of the few anchors since she would be his dad. Which I think people would like. People like Combs and Shran. So him maybe being in 2 to 3 episodes a season in 10 episode season would be fun for old school fans. I would avoid most her characters which actually would be kind of easy since she would be a old women at best by the time you reached TOS time. Maybe President Archer guest spot at some point would be fun but that is about the only characters I can think of that would make sense.
So what is compelling here for this story?

Watching someone go through all these phases of their life. Also being able to explore new aspects of Andorian culture. Hopefully the character being interesting and you care about would be the thing people find most compelling.

What you're proposing is better suited for a long novel, not a television series.

I was thinking more along the lines of a cartoon. That would help with cost in regards to new locations each season and you don't have to have you actor wear old age makeup in the final seasons.

I'm not talking in terms of production costs. A long, rambling story taking place over a person's entire life is something not suited for telling through television, but through the medium of a novel.

Their was one attempt to try something like this. "My Life and Times" starring Tom Irwin in the early 90's. It didn't last a season but I do think the concept would maybe work better today. It would be original which I think would be another selling point of the show.

As Firebird notes this is better suited to a novel or a real world biopic.

As it stands right now, there's no "there" there. You have an entirely blank slate character who only works if they are in a compelling setting or go on a compelling adventure. So far, that hasn't been presented in this character.

If I sound nitpicky it's because writing the characters to stand out is extremely important. Regardless of what I might think of Picard, or TNG, the crew stood out. Picard was an arrogant preacher but he stood up for what he believed in a lot.

As one critic told me with a writing sample, "this story has a good skeleton but no meat. There's no compelling reason for the story."

Be that as it may, fighting Disney would be a VERY expensive proposition.
But there isn't much of a fight to be had.
"Andor has been a name in Star Wars since 2016."
"Oh yeah? Well, we used it in Star Trek back in 1998."
She is barely a character. Thus a blank slate in essence as a adult.
The character is such a blank slate it makes more sense to just create a new character rather than revisit someone only seen once in an episode which isn't generally held in high esteem to begin with.

It wouldn't be a priority either. But I would like to see a Trek show that is more than just another ship or space station show. So you basically got to find ways to not only do something really different while still having some ties to Trek stuff we know at the same time. I think my favorite idea would be a anthology show were they tell a new story each year. Kind of like American Horror Story. You would not be limited by time periods or even canon because you could do a season in another universe or one so different it couldn't even work that way. I mean one season could just be about Gene Roddenberry trying to get Star Trek the tv series made.

But then you don't get the added fun of seeing Shran again.

But that seems to be the sole motivating factor for you. Everything else you state about the daughter character could apply to anyone. I don’t need a character that needs another character as a crutch. That’s how you get Micheal Burnham.

More and more articles are coming out about it. Looks like they want a fresh start. Doubtful we get the star trek year one now. Thankfully.

The thing is, one of these days, on a long enough timeline, Kurtzman's contract will end. But not because Insider #284249 said so. Because Kurtzman will want to move on. Or because Paramount/Skydance will want to take things in a new direction on the television front, and they don't see Secret Hideout being the right fit for that endeavour. Or, sure, because ratings aren't hitting internal benchmarks, or they want to put the TV front on hiatus in general, or somebody doesn't like the way Kurtzman takes his afternoon tea, or whatever.

It doesn't really matter. What matters is that people on Substack who want me to continue reading with a seven-day free trial won't have anything to do with the equation. And, when you get to a point that, after at least two contracts were fulfilled and no fewer than 22 seasons of Star Trek produced, that guy whose name is anathema to you exits stage right... go ahead and pop the champagne cork or whatever, but congratulations on witnessing the inevitable bell-ringing...?

Or even Michael Burnham. ;)

Can confirm.
Sorry but any article that says this:
...The Rise of Skywalker, the final film in the trilogy, it only grossed $1.1 billion at the box office...
I can't take seriously when it calls such films 'box office disappointments/failures'

$1.1 billion dollars is an impressive box office take, period.

Its budget was just slightly under $600 million.

It needed to make $1.2 billion just to break even. It didn't do it.

I think Trek can become as popular as it was again. You just need someone who has a vision and is talented enough to make it happen.

Nothing that's been around for decades is as popular as it used to be. The world has changed. We don't watch just three or four TV stations any more. Doctor Who fans in the UK complain its ratings have gone down. Well, so have the ratings of the shows that have traditionally beaten it in the ratings, like Coronation Street.

I mean, there may be people who think the Baby Yoda movie will be as big as Star Wars was in 1977. I'm not convinced it'll be much more popular than the Star Wars Christmas Special.

Since the name Andor was established in Star Trek close to twenty years before it was used in Star Wars, Disney wouldn't be able to fight this hypothetical matter.

Did Paramount ever trademark it? Did they try to defend it?

A show about Shran's daughter grown up and maybe being the first Andorian in Starfleet might be fun.

The character is such a blank slate it makes more sense to just create a new character rather than revisit someone only seen once in an episode which isn't generally held in high esteem to begin with.

Everyone who hated Michael Burnham, whose life we saw in several very different stages, would hate this.
