JJ Abrams considering Khan in next movie?

It wouldn't be top on my list of things I want to see, but a Khan-driven sequel could be great. I have often wondered what a more sympathetic portrayal of Khan could accomplish.

The only way I can see this working is if another Federation Starship discovers the botany bay and they take over that ship and the Enterprise has to save the day and fight Khan.

Ha! I don't think anyone would take it that far. They might as well do a shot-by-shot remake.

What do you suggest then? someone has to find him on the botany bay and like what happened in that TOS episode he'll try to take over the ship.

If they do this (and I hope they dont) perhaps they can pick up a big name Bollywood actor for Khan. tap into the South Asia market a little bit.

If they recast Khan then I hope that they at least pick a lesser known actor. They did a great job casting unknowns for Star Trek and the movie worked better that way.

Im sure just about any bollywood actor would be an unknown in the US lol

Unknowns in the new Trek Movie? :wtf: they chose well known actors.

Forget Khan

Let's have Worf's Grandfather in command of a bird of prey up against Kirk :klingon:

Or with Vulcan now gone the Andorian's might make a power play, that could be an interesting story line too.

I would also like to see Kirk interact with some Ferringi.

You could do some really fun and interesting stuff with the next movie

Your possibility is more plausible, but I think there's a problem. For all his bloviating, I don't know that there was a single scene in TWOK with Kirk and Khan in it. It was the whole cat and mouse game. I don't think you could do compelling drama like that without the exposition in space seed...

^Heh, I think it'd be great if they Sikhed him up properly, with someone like Waris Singh Ahluwalia playing him. Although there's no particular reason why Khan Noonien Singh would actually be a religious Sikh--Singh could just as easily be a name borrowed from one of the scientists who built him--it would be an original visual stamp to put on the character.

I'd like to see a huge shake up of the Star Trek universe in the next film, I wanna see a Romulan/Klingon war.

As far as we know the Nerada wiped out forty odd Klingon ships and it was known to be a Romulan vessel that did it, are you telling me there's going to be no repurcussions from that?

Actually I think it would be pretty cool if he was a religious Sikh. Its not really a character trait you see so often in Trek. Either way, it seemed pretty clear he was supposed to at least be of Indian decent, why not actually cast an Indian for the role. After all, its a country of a billion people. That's a billion potential ticket sales ;)

Great, more lazy writting. Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie, it was great , but it sounds lazy. I just read an interview with Orci and Kurtzman where they explain certian scenes in the movie and scenes that were cut out and it really does seem like they just take the familiar Star Trek stuff we know and throw a couple of original ideas and then dicard the actual important things because it would take too much effort to write around it. Rehashing Khan is lazy and we will end up with another weak plot and no depth. I was hoping a sequel would be more inspirational, a little more Star Trek and a little less Star Wars since they got that all out of the way this time around.

I would really prefer something new, not redoing older stories. One time seeing that fucker Khan was enough for me.

I think that if it is done well, that a movie with Khan would be good.

A Starfleet ship discovers the Botany Bay, has trouble with Khan and the Enterprise is called in.

I would be ok with Khan, if they did him right, and if they played it out over a few movies (but preferably, not the sequel. Too much too soon, IMO). Have him be a secondary villian/problem in a movie, then ramp it up in the follow up.

But, if they can't do it right, DON'T do it. Montalban was fantastic as Khan, whoever does that character would really have to put on a show. I'd prefer a new villian, or as others have mentioned, a Klingon/Romulan war than a warmed-over Khan.

My 2 cents.

It wouldn't be a TWOK remake, it would be more along the lines of space seed but done better and more in line with TWOK (imo).

rather than Khan, why not make a story about the old Kirk (william Shatner) versus the new Kirk (Chris Pein) just like in Mission Impossible I where Mr. Jim Pheleps death in the hand of Mr. Ethan Hunt :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Trek really needs to get out from under the long shadow of TWoK anyway. A greater percentage of the character development in ST was taken directly from that film than I'm comfortable with as it is; I really hope they don't end up literally copying it in the next one.
