JJ Abrams considering Khan in next movie?

That's like saying Joker is a rehash.
No, its really not
It might be the same, Khan has sort of become iconic. It could certainly work. It wouldn't even have to be the insane, revenge driven Khan. We could actually have Kirk and Khan face to face.
The difference is that Comic book heroes and villains have a history of being constantly reused over and over again. If anything, thats one thing that makes comic book characters rather unique. For the most part they dont age and their story lines constantly reset. Khan's story line on the other hand had a defined beginning and end. Not only did it have a set beginning and end, but it was also well done. There is no need to re-due it. I've said it in the other Khan threads and I'll say it again. Why go all the trouble of rebooting this universe if you are just going to do the old stories that have been done already? Lets see some new stuff.

Khan is the same as Joker if they gave him the screen time, and I would bet good money that Star Trek would do TDK numbers if Khan "died", which is the only reason Batman Begins did amazing numbers.

Okay we have to find someone willing to take one for the team.

I think someone else could pull of a great Khan. I don't doubt it. I just think that it's a vast universe out there, and I'd love something different. Bring Khan back for number three. That's cool with me. But they just took command of this ship. I'd like to see some kind of "boldly going where no man has gone before."

And maybe Gary Mitchell.

Thank you.

While TDK was a very good film, it was NOT a $US500m good film.

I will say it until I am the last person speaking, TDK did the business it did and Ledger won the Oscar he did because he died.

End of story.

The only way I can see this working is if another Federation Starship discovers the botany bay and they take over that ship and the Enterprise has to save the day and fight Khan.

Ha! I don't think anyone would take it that far. They might as well do a shot-by-shot remake.

I can imagine that.

Pike gives Kirk a picture taken of the floating Botany Bay.
"I'll look into it."
Kirk jumps off building and glides away.

They built an entire advertising campaign around him, and the Joker. Go back and watch Wrath of Khan, then say he isn't a good enogh villain - he is unarguably the most infamous Trek villain.

If they do this (and I hope they dont) perhaps they can pick up a big name Bollywood actor for Khan. tap into the South Asia market a little bit.
