I was actually rather relieved to see characters like Mrs. Green gone. She was part of the problem in season one, with all the "aw, shucks, nuclear apocalypse huh? Oh well, let's have Halloween!" stuff.

Gail by no means was a favorite for me, but I do believe I would take her any day of the week over Dale or Skylar. On the otherhand, I was royally pissed that they killed Johnston, and the way they went about it. It just... lacked any emotional punch. It was kind of like, "Oh, look. They killed him. Well, that's too bad."

I thought that his death was poignant but the way he died was lame (I hope that makes sense).

I don't know, I just thought it was mishandled. When I'm really into a show or really fond of its characters, I will willingly admit that I do get teary eyed when they kill someone or when they have some sort of moving scene. And when a favorite character dies, and it doesn't bother me, it indicates that they could have done it better in my opinion. Another example was in Enterprise. I was more sad when Trip's daughter died than when Trip died, all because of the way Trip's death was put together versus how his daughter's death was done.

Pere, you old son of a gun, how ya been?
Work, school. Probably about the same as you, I'd imagine. If you ever have time, you should stop by the IRC channel linked to in my sig; I tend to hang out there fairly often now.

But, yeah, it's just one possible scenerio.
Yeah, lots of different possible scenarios, hence me taking it as an "interesting" statement rather than one of any "definitive" weight. I think that'd be an interesting series or miniseries in and of itself: the events in the larger country that led to the creation of the Allied States while the town of Jericho struggled to survive.

Too bad the show is not coming back. So much left to tell.

I still hope that Sci-Fi or someone else thinks about picking it up but that seems unlikely

Yeah even though the ending that aired was supposed to be the one that "wrapped" up the storyline to give viewers some closure, it still did leave room for future storylines.

A future season could easily go into the civil war and how it turns out. But...we'll never know.

Just finished reading five pages of thread. Had to log back in twice. :guffaw:

That said, just a few comments: re: velco patches...back in the day, I'm told all patches had to be sewn on. Usually by a professional. Crappy sewing would get you written up or worse. It's not about "loyalty," it's about "uniformity". Much easier to straighten a velcro crooked patch than a sewn on one. Although I'm also told that now some slap it on and whip stitch it (the patch) to hold it in place. <shrug>

Yep, that "series finale" was fast-paced all right. Blink and you miss something. However, the script writers nipped and tucked to make every word count, squeezing in two episodes into one, IMHO.

Personally, I would rather see "Jericho" go straight to DVD with good money from *somebody*, *anybody* than see Skiffy get their paws on it. A mini-series, a movie, I don't care what, I'd find the money to buy it. Beg, if necessary. I didn't discover "Jericho" until earlier this year (yes, I live under a rock) and most definitely this series died before its time.

Soldiers have velcro flags on their uniforms for real? That just seems...lame. :wtf:

And I'm not sure I like the idea of someone who so uncoordinated they can't sew on a flag straight being allowed to use a gun. But that's just me.

Maybe it was to make it easier on the budget? Velcro patches for ASA garb could mean that 'normal' off-the-shelf uniforms could be used for filming, with minimal alteration.

Velcro patches are cheaper in the long run. Easier to change a velcro patch than a patch that's been sewn onto a uniform sleeve.

I wouldn't write the show off yet. The SciFi lead is still looking pretty promising...

Curious have anything more solid to back that up?

Ditto. I'm just here looking for a straw to clutch at. :(
I've been looking on the Jericho boards for the various articles that have mentioned it, unfortunately, that place has been so spammed up that I woulsn't be able to find shit if the place turned into a manure pile. The only thing I could track down was a summary from when Carol Barbee showed up on the Shawn O'Mac radio talk show a week ago. Here's the two big things that came out of that:

CBS PARAMOUNT
1) Keep contacting CBS paramount and Nancy Tellem to tell them you want Jericho to keep going. Be polite but let them know Jericho's audience is still here.
The studio (Paramount) is very motivated to see the show continue because its an asset. CBS on the other hand is done.

SCi-FI CHANNEL
2) Originally Sci-Fi wasnt looking for new episodes but they are getting ALOT OF PRESSURE!!
And talks are still in the works. (our information was correct - we continue after Sci-Fi like we've been doing for days).
Yes, it would be helpful to post on Sci-Fi's forum (forgot who asked, sorry)

The budgets are not that far off and Carol feels that they could work within the budgets available without too much trouble.
Here's a link.
Sorry I couldn't dig up more right now... when the Jericho email newsletter comes out Wednesday, it should have the links I'm looking for, hopefully!

P.S.- I swear I'm not pulling your guy's legs either, this stuff really exists!
