Jeff conaway taken off life support this afternoon.

Hard not to see this coming, the guy had a lot going against him. I only caught the tail end of Taxi in the original run, but I tried not to miss it in late night reruns in my late teens and 20s. "Wheeluh" was not my favorite character but Conaway definitely had some memorable moments, and it was nice to seem him on B5 later on. RIP, Mr. Conaway.

That list is too long.

Especially for a show that's not even 20 years old.

Very sad news indeed. I unfortunately (and anyone who has seen the footage can certainly agree with that term) saw a bit of Conaway's appearance on Celebrity Rehab - not by choice, but by accident - and I had a feeling the fellow wasn't long for this world. Although the OD reports were wrong, the guy still had a very rough last few years and it's a shame to see it end this way.

Alex

I had a feeling that he wasn't going to make it through the week.
Like you, I accidently stumbled upon Celebrity Rehab too. That show is certifiable trainwreck 100 fold. When I first saw Conaway, the only thing that cross my mind was not if he going to die, but when he going to die. I was amazed (and relieved) that he lasted a little bit longer than I thought.

RIP Jeff, aka Bobby Wheeler. I hope you found that peace you've been craving for. :(

^ Agreed R.I.P. Jeff, 60 is too young. :(

Richard Biggs, Andreas Katsulas and Tim Choate, for starters. There's a site listing those involved with B5 who have died; sadly, the list is already quite extensive.

Whether or not this story is true, it's very sad about Jeff Conaway. :(

A long list that is now 19 people long. The oldest was ~88 (I used the years and didn't account for birth date) the youngest was ~31. Average age on that list: 58. Four on that list were over 70. 8 were 50 or younger. 7 between 51 and 70. Most of the people were special guest stars or in production.

Jeff's death is sad but, unfortunately, not unexpected. The hell he put his body through ensured his life would be short. He did leave behind a good legacy. One to be proud of: Kenikie on Greese, Wheeler on Taxi and Zack on Babylon 5.

Yeah...I saw part of an episode of what I think was that show (my DVD recorder defaults to that crappy TV guide station, and it was on there) and was surprised to see him on there. But in the one I saw, he was pretty belligerent in terms of defying those trying to help him. And that didn't speak well for his potential for success. Like you guys, I got the feeling that it was not an 'if' but a 'when'. Needless to say, I turned it off and actively avoided the show like the plague after that 10 minute viewing. I just didn't want to see him slide down that slope. Better to remember him on B5 and be done with it.

So very sad.... :(
