Jayru (JSnaith's) 3D Trek

Shuttle names could be… Flipper, Spinner, Bottlenose, and Hector maybe?

It is the Delphis class, after all! :bolian: :rommie:

Cheers,
-CM-
That's not a bad idea... Although, maybe those names would better suit the USS Delphis. I'll tag them with those for the time being. Looking back at some of the very old notes, the shuttles were originally named for authors - but I used that idea with the McCaffrey Class. So... Yeah, I'll tag them with your suggestion :techman:

One variation might be for the upper defector becomes a *huge* arboretum…cetacean tank.
I've just finished the upper bay (not the dish part, still fielding ideas for how they should look) - and yes, have run with an idea of a largish room at the aft of it - renders forthcoming.

Upper bay built - although both deflectors remain unlocked for the moment -

Working on missing hull details and markings. Once I get that done, and the design of the navigational deflectors sorted, I'll move on to the hand crafted rooms - which now number 8

comments always welcome, more soon!

Updates (before I break for lunch). Still adding missing hull detail and markings, so she is not done yet. Maybe 94% complete, not counting handcrafted rooms. Yes, one room is not lit, I know why and it will be fixed -

Enjoy, comments and like welcome, more later :)

Last updates of the day, missing hull details added, numerous mesh errors fixed. Windows fixed so all rooms are lit (woops, applied the wrong material to a group of them) -

Still to do;
  1. physically build the spot lights for the self lighting rig.
  2. finalise the look and design of the two navigational deflectors (still not locked).
  3. Hand crafted rooms.
  4. New texture maps for other rooms - possibly a new 3D set, useful for the handcrafted rooms.
If you guys and gals can think of anything else I've missed, or have thoughts/ideas/whatnot - you know the drill, comment away!

Have a good one - more tomorrow!

I can't help but wonder if the top deflector needs something extra. Right now, it looks as if it's not done. Unless that's what you ment with finalising the look of the deflectors. I took it as just the front look of them.

The bay itself is done, just the forward part. But yes, it feels a little empty. Maybe another greebled sensor pallet?

I think simply running the red line that is already running over the aft of the ship would be enough.

I might be able to stretch that line, currently has a delta arrow on it though. Let me ponder the way forward.

Wait!! I have an idea!! Something like the Captain's Yacht? Or Waverider shuttle?
This is something I have seriously considered. I remember last time I worked on this ship that their was a push to create some sort of executive shuttle. I like the idea, but I see two problems - one the internal gubbings for the upper nav deflector, and two, the fact the warp core runs the height of the ship. Those are things that can be worked out - but at the moment those "issues" (it's all make believe, right?) exist -

Let me have a think on it, and see what shapes I can pull from the area and how it would work. I do have plans for some sort of rec-room at the back of the forward bay (windows are cut in and ready to go). But that's internal... Humm, let me think.

More later.

Ah yes, I see what you mean with the warpcore.
As for the internal structure of the deflector... I think you can get away with that AND a executive shuttle. But the warpcore.... Yeah

The core does have a little wiggle room and could be placed a little further back and allow something else to sit in that upper bay. It would be tight - but no more so than any other ship with a plug in shuttle. I've tasked my hind-brain to work on it, so give me a day of three to see what comes back.

In the mean time, I have knocked up a new corridor set for the basic rooms behind the windows -

I'll use this to create the texture maps for the light boxes on the basic rooms, and then use this as a jumping off point for the more detailed rooms. This colour scheme/design will be unique to this model. The (two) sets I normally use are a TMP one (brown and red) and basic TNG one (blue and red). But I wanted something a little more special for this ship, so beiges... Ugg, I'm going to have build furniture again... So. Much. Fun. But so worth it in the end :techman:

More soon

The "plan" of attack re this ship -
  1. Finish the mesh proper, rooms, shuttle bay, spot lights.
  2. Work on navigational deflector ideas - have three so far.
  3. Self lighting rig.
  4. Look at adding an executive/plugin shuttle for the dorsal surface - OR - additional detail on upper bay.
  5. New shuttle type.
  6. MSD style cutaway of the Horizon.
  7. Dedication plaque for the Horizon.
Missed anything? Let me know and I'll add it.

Things I'm not going to do (well, unlikely to do, never say never right? lol) -
  • Deck plans.
  • Different variants of the class, (no provision has been made to change the registry tags. It could be done, but it would be a ball-ache to do it. Not saying it's impossible, just... Difficult).

Like I say, if I've missed anything - or if you have a really good reason for me to bump things on the "not doing list" to "to do list" let me know.

More soon!

Very nicely done on the detailing there!!
Thank you!

The internals are coming along nicely. Yes, I could have got away with a bog standard light box... and it impacts render time... but... It looks nicer when rendered!

Now on to the biggest internal space -

Still have the floor to do, but the shuttlebay is coming along nicely :-)

Having a bit of a break, so more tomorrow - comments, thoughts and the like are always welcome.

See ya soon!

So, the shuttlebay got me thinking....

In the novels, B'elanna at one point designs and build a Delta Flyer/Runabout sized shuttle/ship that is slipstream capable. I can see this ship, fully slipstream capable, also being a testbed for the SCE to develop a slipstream capable support ship, like the Flyer.
I know I already suggested the executive shuttle, so I feel really bad about this. But perhaps a side project after this entire ship is done?
