Yeah we're both fine. It's hard to travel cuz trains aren't moving and annoying since phone networks are down but internet (smartphones) is ok. Here around Tokyo it was big enough to be exciting/scary/confusing but not really dangerous.
They're currently estimating that the death toll will surpass 1,000. Obviously, that's a lot of dead, but it's a small number in comparison to the 2010 Haiti earthquake (with a death toll surpassing 316,000).
