News JANEWAY RETURNS! Star Trek: Prodigy

Back on topic, it seems that most 24th Century characters 'go Fury' on return these days. But not Janeway. It seems Kate Mulgrew has learned from heading that way in Endgame!

Also, I think it's appropriate that she's in the children's show. Janeway was one who seemed to like children.

Well, she has been a mother.

Sisko liked children. Not only because of how he was with Jake, but look at scenes like "CHILDREN OF TIME" where he is playing with a baby.

Probably because movies and TV series are poisoned with the current doom-and-gloom scenarios which movie and TV companies are pouring over us in this rotten century.

I hope that those in charge of Star Trek Prodigy will have the decency to avoid character destruction.

By the way, if Janeway and Chakotay are back, wouldn't it be possible to include the other characters too, including Kes?

Prodigy is a cartoon for kids. Janeway and Chakotay will be back as training holograms. I suppose Kes could come back as well, but she probably wouldn't be voiced Jennifer Lein unless she is now mentally sound and capable of work.

From what I gather, Jennifer Lien is not up to reprising her role as Kes. Would it be worth including Kes if she were voiced by someone else?

Indeed: I don’t see Jennifer Lien coming back anytime soon and can’t imagine a reason for the character to be needed enough to warrant a recasting.

All the other Voyager character could well come back at some point. We’re already getting Janeway, Chakotai, Seven and Paris in a way or the other, basically the only absentees are the doctor, Kim and B’Elanna. No idea about the latter, but Picardo and Wang are known to be enthusiastic about the franchise and would certainly be interested in coming back.

Unless there's a romantic subplot between Chakotay's and Janeway's human counterparts.

I thought "Fury" shut that door?

Im sure Robert Picardo was supposed to be in Picard season two? Maybe it was clickbait, or plans changed due to Covid. I'm not even sure Whoopi Goldberg is in season two and that was hyped.

Didn't he reveal it was just a rumor or something? I mean, at this point I wouldn't expect anything until it's on the screen.

I’m sure Goldberg was supposed to be in season 2, not sure it actually happened with all the issues.

Never heard anything about Picardo.

Yeah, with a bit of googling, turns out it was a rumour all along and he dispelled it.

It could work since a voice is easier to replace in an animated series than an actress in a filmed TV episode.

If they plan to bring back the other characters, then I think that Kes should be included too.

That insulting piece of crap episode doesn't count.
It would be no problem for a skilled writer to "write around" all the crap in tat episode. It's just about explaining that the monster in that episode wasn't the real Kes.
