James Cameron's Avatar Sequels Possible Titles Revealed

It has been so long, I just don’t care about these movies anymore.

Covid might have taken 200,000 lives, but our "adjustment" to it is going to ruin millions. Between lost livelihood (the only job I've ever managed to hold for over 18 months), brutal isolation, and weight gain, my own life is rapidly disintegrating. I doubt I'm the only one.

Pull yourself up by your Conservative bootstraps. It is always what the poor are always told.

Good point. In any case, I rarely watched movies in theaters before this nightmare began. And honestly, I have little interest in Avatar, a movie that effectively celebrates humanity's destruction.
How dim and depressing. Humanity does best when forced to find new ways to do things. If all the oil and coal were to magically turn into some inert material tomorrow, humanity would not die out. There would be upheaval. There would be deaths. But humanity would survive and it would be smarter and better when the crisis ended, because it has encountered bottlnecks before, and it has overcome them.

You see a bloated, lethargic culture reduced to being a lamprey on another species as signifying humanity's destruction. From another view, it forces them to adapt. Anyway it wasn't that great of a movie.

sooooooo... any hope of some kind of Avatar Teaser or trailer being developed? WHere are they with filming? Cliff Curtis dropped out of Fear years ago because of these movies... so they ought to have SOMETHING, right?

While shooting on "Avatar 2" is done, there's obviously extensive post-production on these movies. It's also scheduled for release in December 2022, it also might be pushed back again thanks to CoVID, so I don't think they'll want to release a trailer this early. I'm afraid the comics will have to hold us fans over for a while.

Because working from home on special effects takes longer or that theaters still won't have an audience? I could totally see Avatar II being the movie to break the dam and bring everyone back to the theater. It's far enough down the line for that to be possible. Then James Cameron gets to take credit for resurrecting the movie industry.

No, because there's now almost a year worth of unreleased blockbusters. Studios might not want to release them all at once. Mind you, I wasn't talking about it being a certainty, not even a likelihood, but a possibility. Especially weeks before we got the news of the new vaccine.

Yes, they will have a lot of moves to release...but i think @UssGlenn is saying that THIS movie will be SOOOO big, that people will come out in droves like the old days, and by then (2022 now?) we should have a very effective and well proven cure that it could quite possibly do $2 Billion, and as he said, get people to REALLY come out to other movies.

My 2021 high school reunion has been suggested to NOT go on at that time because of fears from alumni. SO even WOnder WOman 84, which i would LOVE to see with classmates, might not e able to show unless socially distant.

And the timing would be such for Avatar that as Glenn points out, would make it SEEM like Avatar was the one who brought everything back (despite all the other steps along the way).

P.S. I was looking through my calendar, and I still had Avatar 2 as being released in December 2020.

No, there are other big movies in the pipeline which will be released before Avatar 2, whether it will be delayed again or not (for the record, I do not believe it will). There's a Batman movie, a Spider-Man movie, a Fast&Furious movie, look, I've done that list before, I'm not gonna go through all of them again. Will they be as massive as Avatar 2 has the potential to be?! Unlikely. But they will drive lots of people back into theaters, especially when the vaccine will be widely available over the course of 2021.

I still wonder if Avatar 2 is even going to be that big of a deal. It's been over a decade with very little activity from the franchise, and with so many other $1billion franchises out there to compete with it, I have to wonder if it's really gonna draw in the kind of crowds the first one got.
I'm looking forward to the sequels, but I'm not really sure if many other people are.

I am not denying what you are saying...but the point that was brought up is that AVATAR might be able to break all PREVIOUS records, so as to overshadow all of those other movies, who, like you say, will indeed play a part in reviving the industry. But most likely James Cameron's movie will be the, um, Avatar , of that revival.

It depends if the new movie can ALSO innovate/maximize technology. I forget the exact timing of the 3-D craze that seemed to grip the industry for a short time (even getting TV's to have that), but Avatar was, again, the Avatar of that. If there is something new (like a 3-D that does NOT need glasses... or maybe a revived Smell-o-vision), Avatar could really highlight that.

No, that wasn't the point which was brought up.

You’ll never get it the title confused with the Airbender series now. :)

That angry looking avatar with the gun has to be Quaritch...

Not a lot of details on the story, but it's definitely going to be a very nice looking movie.

All this talk of "no way I'll be interested in this sequel after so long!!!!" And then trailer drops, and the James Cameron hysteria wave starts sweeping the nation again.

Really? Literally no one in my friend group that is into movies is talking about this. Hell, I already forgot I saw this trailer before Dr Strange this weekend.
