I dunno, I have never seen a good movie that did not have a metacritic rating 5 days before release.
Hm. My gut reaction was that this was a stupid move, leaving money on the table as most people would want to see the movie that way. But then I remembered that Disney gets the lion's share of the first weekend's box office, with the theater's share growing as time goes by. So, the theater might be betting on most people waiting to see it in the bigger format, or best case scenario, watching it a first time with one of these quality caveats and coming back again to see it a second time in the best quality on the biggest screen. So, actually, not a stupid move, at all.Looks like my mom and I won't be seeing Way of Water until Monday or Tuesday. I really want to see this in HFR 3D on one of the biggest screens in the theater, and all of those shows this weekend are back on the tiny screens. Our theater is a big 18 screen multiplex, but it has three different sized theaters and screens, with tiny ones way in the back, medium ones in the middle, and then the biggest ones in the front. The first HDR 3D showings on one of the big screens don't happen until Monday.
Very glad to hear, seeing in the AM and I seriously can't wait.Just came back from the theater, and it was soooo good. Definitely gonna go see it again, probably several times.
