James Cameron's Avatar Sequels Possible Titles Revealed

Sure, but given that Avatar 2 is the only (?) major film production shooting again, thanks to New Zealand and its relatively virus-free status, there seemed a decent chance it could still make its December 2021 date. Alas... :p

This means, that, at 13 years, the wait for Avatar 2 will exceed the mere 12-year gap between Terminator 2 and 3! :rommie:

Sucks, but at this rate, I don't see more than two or three major releases before 2021, so all those movies that can't be released until then have to go somewhere, meaning all the other movies have to follow suit. And they really want that December spot.

I did really enjoy the first one, I've just managed to totally forget that the sequels existed.

I can't imagine these movies not flopping hard... (Which for them means making only a billion worldwide). They will need a hell of a marketing campaign to get people to care about that universe again.

Time will tell, but if there's one thing I've learnt, never write off James Cameron. The same was said about Titanic, and the original Avatar. However I am slightly concerned that he won't be able to push the game forward as much as the first one did - that film still looks like it was released recently, not 11 years ago. I've been reading about the underwater motion capture in the sequel, and it's not exactly blowing my skirt up, but we'll just have to see.

I'm sure they will be marketed very well, and will likely have a large budget to do so.

I'll still be there on opening week, no question.

I wonder why he decided to make so many sequels?

I hope the new film doesn't flop, but it would be understandable how it happened if it does.

I guess he has a vision for the story and franchise, and the technical acumen to deliver groundbreaking stuff to achieve it.

There's been talk of glasses-free 3D, if he pulls that off he'll be on to a winner, but I don't see how feasible that is.

He was planning to use hfr as the big deal tech for this one, but extremely negative reaction to other hfr releases made him reconsider.

Avatar 1 is the ultimate "you can justify anything if you slant it right" movie.

End of Avatar 1: Humans forced to leave Pandora. Because of loss of resources, human civilization probably collapses. Hundreds of millions, maybe billions die. And we're supposed to be happy about it.

If humanity was stupid enough to tie itself to a single mineral source and power method for its technology, AGAIN, it deserved it. Human species has thrived so far by being generalist-specialist.

I'm sure that's a fine consolation if you're a person on famine-ravaged Earth, deciding which member of your family you're going to eat.

The largest most lethargic one, obviously, unless there are babies. It's really not that complicated.

Yeah about all that:
Terminator: Dark Fate would like a word...
Read: Worldwide BO: $261 million on a budget of $185 million = severe underperformance in the best light/Box Office bomb in the worst.
