J.J. Abrams Almost Human

I'm feeling all kinds of dense, for some reason I thought Sleepy Hallow was in its second season. Sleepy Hallow is definitely the best new genre show of the year. By so much that SHIELD & Almost Human can't even be seen in the rear view mirror. I like SHIELD but it's so dour, it has none of the fun of the cinamatic Marvel universe, even with the pithy Weddonist writing.

The personal moments on Sleepy Hollow, when they're screwing around are excellent... The actual monster huntering falls short often. The Horseman is fun but some of the other inventions are just incredulous.

I got bored and finally gave up on SHIELD and Sleepy Hollow, but Almost Human is starting to grow on me more and more as it goes on.

It might have become much more of a standard cop show after the ambitious and scifi-heavy pilot, but I actually think it works a lot better with the lighter touch it has now, and by simply focusing on the John and Dorian dynamic.

Just caught up on all the episodes after missing the last few. I'm really enjoying it so far, mostly because of the interplay between Kennex and Dorian. It's kind of funny, since I originally tuned into the show because I'm a fan of Karl Urban, but it's actually Michael Ealy's Dorian who I've found to be more engaging. Kennex, so far, is just the stereotypical macho rule-breaking cop, but Dorian's development thus far has been far more interesting. I'm also enjoying Mackenzie Crook's Rudy, particularly in the episode where he went undercover. I hope they give him more to do again soon. Same with Detective Stahl; she seems decent enough so far, but they really need to give her some depth soon.

Unfortunately the ratings don't seem to be all that great, which doesn't give me much hope that this show will last long. But maybe I'll be surprised.

This EP wasn't good for me. The power situation, creep with bombs and getting idiots online to watch his games play out. I think they wanted a reason for Dorian to act strange with the power thing...seemed like there was plenty of power in the city throughout the EP. Meh. LOL.

This is what pisses me off.

The story begins: This is the Future! Technology is fantastic and unstoppably becoming alien and more developed every hour... And the first thing that happens is that the Hero goes into a coma and then rehab for 2 years, but when he finally gets back to his job; NOTHING HAS CHANGED!

A sloppy show. The premise was well-worn, but potentially interesting; not in the hands of these show-runners though. It has to figure out completely what it wants to be--camp or grown-up. At least Fringe had depth and a certain maturity about it; this swings from the juvenile to drama lite, and it just doesn't work.

Unfortunately.

This show is surviving on the character banter alone. It won't last long.

ETA: Forgot to mention this before. when Kennix is cuffed to the park bench, it's by his right leg. His artificial right leg. I kept waiting for him to remove it to get away from there, or at least to get that tool he dropped.

^ I was thinking the same thing. He is going to take off his leg! and it didn't happen. I have enjoyed the series so far but it really isn't living up to it's potential.

Yup, I was totally expecting the leg to come off too. I'd also agree that they are not realizing their potential. I'm still enjoying the heck out of it though.

I enjoy this show through sheer charisma and performance of the characters, a few plots were suspenseful. However, if things really did advance this rapidly, we'd be seeing a lot more evidence of it. What I do agree with is that governments and law enforcement won't be able to keep up with such advancements, as this is already happening now.

RAMA

^In the first or second episode we see him sleeping without it. It being on a charging base for the night. The impression is he does this every night.

^ I guess someone in the Writers Room forgot that little detail. I call continuity error! ;)

Q2

^^^ Especially since they could have easily included that in the bomber's litany of warnings, since he knew all about the incident when John was injured -- "Take the leg off, I trigger the bomb".

I thought this EP was really good. How long can Kennex keep destroying police property and nothing happen? LOL. Cute to see him make his move Valerie at the end.

again it keeps skirting with issues and then spinning away specifically the MXs versus the DRNs.

then again who wouldn't want to make an annoying MX go away?
