I've Found The West Wing

OK, finished the show. The final episode was a little underwhelming, we didn't even get to hear the big speech. I was expecting something a little more momentous and moving. Still, excellent show!

I thought the finale was awesome, you never really saw big speeches on the show. It fit the show, the characters were decent and they didn't try anything lame like "20 years later" at the end.

Not a huge speech, but some of my favorite writing on the show...

The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight. They're our students, and our teachers, and our parents, and our friends. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels, but every time we think we have measured our capacity to meet a challenge, we look up, and we're reminded that that capacity may well be limitless.

No one else on TV writes like that.

Finished season 6 and started the final 7th season, I don't want it to end :( I really really enjoyed season 6. Santos seems a good person but I am really surprised how much I am liking the Republican candidate, hes so well not right winged

The flash forward was stupid though at beginning of season 7 because I know who wins now.

They didn't show who the Prez was in the flash-forward, he was intentionally kept off-screen to preserve the secret. Of course I'd been spoiled on who wins from when the show originally aired so when I watched it just now I knew.

Plus, when they filmed that flash forward, the person who was going to win the election was the opposite of the guy they finally went with, because of certain real life events.

They were going to go with the other guy?! That's surprising to hear. What made them change their minds?

With Josh saying the president is coming, made it seem it was Santos and when the guy walks, I swear you could see a bit of his skin colour, either way that scene was not needed.

hope season 7 has plenty of Danny since he ends up with CJ from that flash forward, I really like his character.

From what I read...

John Spencer dying was what changed their minds. They figured it'd be too difficult for the audience to lose Spencer and then have Santos lose the election on-screen. At least, I think that's what happened.

That was pretty stupid, as others said the creators SUPPOSEDLY were going to have McCain win, but changed their minds after John Specer died. I however don't believe that.

Yes. I do believe it, too, because they went to great lengths to make Vinnick independent and less compromising than Santos, even (i.e. the ethanol thing). There certainly wasn't anyone more than a stand-in for that opening flash-forward.

If I could just interject here...was that Moira Kelly (Mandy) I just saw on Heroes? Nice to see her find her way out of Mandyville.
