It happened again!

Emperor-Tiberius

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
I accidentaly watched the whole show again.

First, I wanted to see a few of the key/memorable episodes, which could also stand alone, like "In the Pale Moonlight " or "Far Beyond the Stars", and little by little, I got sucked into watching the whole thing, albeit not in chonological order - except the open of S6 and the end of S7, predictably.

What is it about this show that is so absorbing? What makes me want to see it again all the time?

Deep Space Nine is the best show ever! It does not surprise me that you would end up watching the series again!
On a more serious note, I believe that Ira Steven Behr programmed subliminal messages into the show, so we would never get enough. He may also be using the show to create an army of Niners to do his bidding.

How does one accidentally watch 7 seasons of a show? XD

I think there's a specific reason you like it then...

The mark of a good show, is that you want to watch the next episode now.

I once blitzed S1-2 of "The West Wing" in a Week after working the day of course.

To me, one thing that made the show so great, my favorite, was the acting. The actors and actresses they got were absolutely brilliant!

It's a very clever show in that I honestly can't think of a more boring and difficult to work with setting than a space station, but DS9 really brought it alive and made it vibrant (season 1 and 2 I LOVE the idea of traders and explorers passing through) and filled with stories and possibilities.
I always get the feeling that there's stuff going on in the background with the extras, other stories and lives been lead, not just what the camera is shooting.
Great show, and can't think of anything that quite compares.

I agree 100%. I wished they had done more with Morn, he seemed like an interesting character.

Ha good old Morn, I think the beauty of him was that he did all these interesting things, but all we ever saw him doing was sat at his bar (ala Norm from Cheers).

Exactly. Notice if you switch the "M" & "N" from Norm....

The interesting things that Morn did that we heard about, was that brilliant on the writers part? I often wonder.

Man, I love these kinds of accidents!

I don't think anything ever will compare to DS9, my all-time favorite television show. I love all of Trek, but nothing will ever come close to the timeless perfection that DS9 achieved.

Admitted, TNG and Lost are next in line. Not close seconds, but not distant either. Is there such a thing as medium-distance seconds?

My sentiments exactly. Deep Space Nine doesn't lose ANYTHING with age either. My wife was a Next Generation fan, never really watched Deep Space Nine, but I got her hooked some years back and now she even thinks Deep Space Nine is the best, and no other Trek series compares.

We are also blown away by the acting in the shows from the regulars to the guest stars they had. They got some really amazing, brilliant actors.

When it first aired I was only about 10 and it finished when i was in my mid teens, it's the first time i've revisted it since then (2010) and I was astonished how good it was, i'd assumed it'd have dated and look immature to me, but I enjoy it on a different level to when I was a kid, it's a suprisingly complex storyline and one that doesn't get old - I doubt topics such as terrorism and genocide will ever look outdated or naive.
