One aspect of the interview doesn't preclude another aspect of show production.
We must always remember that the most important aspect of a character is that they be fuckable.
We can worry later about character traits, backstory, their emotional journey throughout the course of the show..... All secondary to the notion that the audience must find them attractive.
Whose idea of attractive? Well straight men, of course!

CoolMiss Ortegas' hair is very intentional. It's on brand for Paramount;
I'm sure plenty of ladies and gay men find these fine gentleman to be attractive:

I'm sure there's a fan club for each men as well.
Having beautiful people on-screen helps sells your product.
The entire cast being gorgeous REALLY helps.
Doesn't matter if it's the ladies or the guys.
Beautiful People sells products, that's the Hollywood way.
Having a good looking cast and marketing their aesthetic appeal isn't anything new.
It's standard Hollywood marketing, and it works.

It's so much better than the goofy military like crew cut on the sides with the wide mohawk.
Imagine seeing Erika Ortegas with that beautiful smiling face & blonde short hair in every episode.
