Is SNW getting too goofy?

I'm sure plenty of ladies and gay men find these fine gentleman to be attractive:
Anson Mount | Christopher Pike
Ethan Peck | Spock
Babs Olusanmokun | Joseph M'Benga
Paul Wesley | James T. Kirk

I'm sure there's a fan club for each men as well.

Having beautiful people on-screen helps sells your product.

The entire cast being gorgeous REALLY helps.

Doesn't matter if it's the ladies or the guys.

Beautiful People sells products, that's the Hollywood way.
I think you missed the point.

This latest episode was pretty hardcore. Goofiness level: 0.

Well, Spock's hapless attempts to help when completely out of his depth aside.

Next week's episode seems to be compensating by being possibly the goofiest episode in the entire franchise, presumably because the people in charge don't want people thinking that SNW might be swinging back into being a consistently good show. Why make actual Star Trek episodes when you can just be a z-list hour long sitcom set in space? :barf2:

'Cause Star Trek never did comedy?

Seriously what the hell do people want from Star Trek? I watched TOS and it had the most somber endings and it had laughing endings. This isn't a pure drama show. Action/adventure in a scifi setting.

That's it. Star Trek is a sandbox, not a holy writ confined to one style.

Star Trek is a giant "Variety Show".

So you're going to get hard hitting impactful episodes like this as well as comedic romps like the previous ep.

There's no one style of episode.

I get not liking the comedies, fantasy stories or (the upcoming) musical... but Star trek has be a flexible format since the 60's. And honestly, comedy is something this particular series does extremely well.
Exactly. I don't like horror, but Star Trek has its fair share of those types of episodes. That's ok. Just not for me. Doesn't make them less "Star Trek," whatever that could possibly mean.

Looking forward to seeing M'Benga and Pike smiling, dancing and singing together next week.

Probably a sign this show needs a longer season order to space everything out. Comedic episodes are fine once in a blue moon. It just seems like such a drastic tonal shift after the very serious situation that happened at the end of 2x08.

But what if they sing about war and what is it good for?
