Is Disney "Star Wars" universe imploding?

Just one. One actual reference to her experience of actually flying. Just one.

Not there.
There is one.

Her being able to fly is proof that she knows how to otherwise she wouldn’t be able to.

Then again Anakin flew the Naboo starfighter without any experience in flying at all.
Same situation. One is accept and the other is not. Weird...

@Refuge is clearly determined to be obtuse and keep asking a question that's been answered to death. We know she can fly, we know it's a commonplace skill, we know there's no meaningful difference between her and Luke in this regard.

We also know it's not a required component of story telling in films to pre explain how each and every character learnt each and every skill they possess, because that's just a silly suggestion.

She's just being awkward and continuing with inanely weak "arguments" (read: pointless and thoughtless single sentence posts characterised by nothing more than mindless repetition of long debunked arguments) because she gets some perverse pleasure from doing so despite offering no new insights or evidence whatsoever. This isn't new behaviour, nor is it constructive, merely strange and bewildering to any intelligent reader trying to make sense of the flow of the dialogue in a thread.

Doubtless she'll carry on however and claim she's the victim for being called out on it.

It’s funny how most of the complaints are based on a lack of understanding of what was clearly stated onscreen. Rey said she was a pilot, but she can’t be a pilot because they never showed her flying before. Rey grew up on a dangerous planet and was shown defending herself on a regular basis, but she shouldn’t be able to fight without being trained. All their questions were answered by the film itself through dialogue or visually.

Hell, we even see her pilot a speeder long before she hops on the Falcon. Also the only thing we ever actually see Luke pilot, before he hops into an X-Wing and saves the world.

(Anakin’s ground-hugging pod racer apparently preparing him for controlling the Naboo fighter and single-handedly defeating the Sepratists, was also a very similar plot point. Repetition in Star Wars, try to contain your shock.)

Buuuut...no other character ever said Rey was the best pilot ever! So her crashing the Falcon a few times, barely escaping to space with Finn’s help, and then never piloting again until Chewie and the autopilot can help her make the journey to Luke, makes her flying skills way too perfect for my suspension of disbelief man!

Lucas also had Anakin randomly pressing buttons until he got the N-1 starfighter to do what he wanted it to and saying things like "Oops!" when he pressed the wrong ones. If that's not making it canonical that you don't need to know what you're doing going in to succeed as a pilot in Star Wars, I don't know what it is.

“You’re father was the best pilot I’ve ever seen”

“But now, let me tell you how I once had a dogfight with Jango Fett, in an asteroid field, whilst he kept dropping bombs on me. And I don’t even like flying.”

In Star Wars, piloting geniuses are more common than stubbed toes.

You know someone is going to respond with 'Bad writing doesn't excuse bad writing'

I think so. I saw Solo and really liked it. A lot of people i know are still mad about TLJ especially how the character of Luke Skywalker was ruined. I agee he was poorly used in the movie and seemed like a totally different character. All that exercise they made hamill do for a brief non lightsaber dual. So i can understand a lot of fans finally giving up. I have little desire to see the last movie but probably will. Yeah Star Wars as it once was is over. Its now just another lackluster sci fi franchise in a sea of them.

It has been 30 years in-universe, people change.
That's the real problem. People don't like their favorite characters to change. They are not people to them. They are icons that are to remain permanently fixed forever in time as they were once remembered. That is why art can be considered so timeless-it takes a moment and locks it forever in time.

But, people are not that way. And, I'll be honest-if Luke were identical to how he was in ROTJ or had not changed at all in the ST, he would have been less interesting and the film lesser for it.

Can't we all go back to the real important issues?!?

Like, who shot first? :shifty:
Rey shot first, obviously.

She used her superior FemForce powers to astral project into the past and fire first for Beta Male Han, killing Greedo. Then she tought him how to properly fly the Falcon with a woman's touch, spiritually directing his hands like those sketches of Jesus helping people drive trucks, fish, perform surgery, and dunk on some chumps on the blacktop.

Then, she Mary Sued into another universe entirely to prevent George Lucas from ever making the Special Editions, and to slice that Quato-like growth off his neck.

She also became the first female President of the United States despite not having a valid birth certificate and clearly being from a completely different galaxy yet strangely British sounding, defeating the evil crimelord Trumpa the Hutt.

Oh, and fun fact: at the same time she was campaigning, she also earned her light aviation pilot's license in Florida in like five minutes. Instructor said he'd never seen anything like it before in his life. She just vagina'd her way through the course and the requisite flight time like it was nothing.

The Ancient Jedi Texts have foreseen and warned of this folly:
