Iron Fist (Marvel/Netflix)

Not sure what Marvel is embarrassed by the name Power Man? Luke Cage is a hero and although his Wonder Woman tiara and bracelets were lame; I think making the progressive alterations to him was good but I think his title should stay.

It's been a long time since Luke used the Power Man title, though. He gave it up in the '90s. And there's currently a different Marvel Comics character using the Power Man name, Victor Alvarez. For that matter, Luke was the second Marvel character to go by Power Man, the first being a villain (Erik Josten) who would later go by Smuggler, Goliath, and Atlas.

My man, bought the 1st issue of the new Power Man and Iron Fist, a comic btw, it seems the villains in the issue acknowledges Luke Cage as Power Man even though he's trying to retire with his wife Jessica Jones. I hope this translates to the show because to me Cage is Power Man.

Luke Cage and Danny Rand has always been my favorite friendship in the Marvel universe. I hope they explore it well in either series or Heroes for Hire.

How awesome it could've been if Tony Jaa was cast as Iron Fist, and allow him to perform his own stunts?

As for Iron Fist, I hope the character wears a costume. And I want to some awesome Kung Fu action every week.
Why wouldn't he wear a costume? Every other superhero character has worn a costume in the MCU. The only characterI can think of who could be considered a superhero who doesn't is Jessica Jones, and I'd say her being a superhero is debatable. I tend to lean towards the no side of that debate, but I could see where someone might argue she is.

She did wear a costume at one point, in her brief but sensational superhero career as... The Sandwich! ;)

In the comics, at least the ones her show is based on, she's an ex-superhero. In the show, all kidding aside, her superhero career never really got started.

She does get a costume later when he joins the New Avengers, pretty much based on the one that Patsy suggested to her and they disregarded (based on her original comics costume).

Well, "original" being a qualified term, since she was first created as an ex-superhero working as a detective in Alias, and her backstory as Jewel was revealed in flashback there -- much as in the show, except that she did have a brief career as an active costumed hero rather than just flirting with the idea. She was retconned in as someone who'd been on the periphery of the Marvel Universe all along, e.g. having been a classmate of Peter Parker's at Midtown High. Which could've been very corny, but apparently they pulled it off.

Yes, I'm perfectly aware of that and have read both Alias and her run in New Avengers.

Yeah, it has but now he's kinda sorta adopting it for the new comic book. It's a great read, guys, you should check it out.

I'd been wondering if adding Colleen Wing as the leading lady would help with the representation issues, but I looked her up on Wikipedia and it seems she has some potential pitfalls of her own. She's apparently samurai-trained despite having a Chinese surname, so you've got both Asian-martial-artist stereotyping and ethnic confusion. Then again, maybe they could change her backstory and have her just be a master detective, say.

To be fair, her Mom is japanese, so she got her surname from her Dad, making her Samurai training probably still a Japanese stereotype, but not really ethnic confusion. Just because her Dad is (presumably) Chinese, she seems to have gotten the samurai bit from the Japanese part of her family.

If the Shang Chi report is accurate...well, Marvel recently got things moving to reprint the entire run of his first comics series...
