Iron Fist (Marvel/Netflix)

These AV Club commenters perfectly capture my "meh":

I liked the trailer, but yeah, there were moments where I had similar thoughts to those commenters.

Colleen mother****ing Wing!

Yeah, i'm noticing an element of consistency to how the action is handled in each series. It's all very good, I enjoy it a lot. But some of it is starting to feel the same despite the tonal and thematic differences across the shows.

I don't see the similarity to Arrow beyond the "lost scion of wealthy family coming back home with new crimefighting skills" element. Those skills are martial arts-based and entail actual superhuman/mystical abilities, as Iron Fist is very much rooted in the romanticized image of Eastern martial arts and mysticism popularized in the '70s kung-fu movies and TV series that inspired the character. I think the differences will significantly outweigh the similarities.

Besides -- two comic-book characters from different companies have similarities to each other? Since when was that unusual or surprising?

I have to admit, when I saw the trailer I did say "oh so your a Marvel Olly Queen" ;) but to be fair I thought the trailer looked excellent and after a mixed Luke Cage (for me), am hoping this sets the Netflix MCU shows back on the rails.

Love that clip with Colleen Wing.
I don't see that much similarity with Arrow, beyond the basic surface level of rich guys who disappeared comes home with new skills.
EDITED TO ADD: I'm assuming the all white outfit Colleen is wearing in the clips is a reference to the white jumpsuit she wore in some of her comic appearances.

I hope this guy knocks it out of the park because he just doesn't look right for the part to me.
I'm hoping for the best as well and will certainly be there to watch the show. I really know nothing about "Iron Fist", but I swear every time I see the actor playing the role, I just want to smack him. There is something about him that I find really annoying for some reason.

I could swear that voice addressing Danny in the opening moments of that clip is Hoon Lee, the voice of Master Splinter from the current Ninja Turtles animated series. But he's not listed in the cast credits. It's been suggested to me that the character speaking is probably Lei Kung the Thunderer, Danny's mentor.

Probably been discussed before, but do you think we'll actually see him in the proper Iron Fist costume (or something similar at least) at all?
When it's all released I'm tempted to just go straight to the last episode and skip through it to see. Might seem silly but if he doesn't I'm honestly not that bothered about watching it.

I'm thinking we probably will get some version of it at some point. I don't think they revealed the final Daredevil costume until after Season 1 was released, so if we do get one for IF I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see it before the episodes are released.

I hope they keep the noone blieves who he is plot brief, I feel like I have seen that story a million times by now.

I think the question is the mask. Otherwise, what he's shown wearing in K'un Lun in the flashbacks (shown in the trailer) is pretty close, imo. But it needs the mask to work correctly.
