i'm SO geeky....

I'm so geeky, that...I swear I am not making this up...the first time I learned how to ride the New York subway, I was so pleased with myself that I did pretty much nothing the rest of the day but just ride around to random destinations. I would call my dad at home whenever I got to a station and I'd say "Hey Dad, guess where I am now? I'm at...hang on...West 4th Street!" :D

(I still do that, to a lesser extent, whenever I'm in New York.)

I'm also so geeky that I know what IRT, BMT and IND mean, and which lines go with which system. ;)

I'm so geeky that this afternoon I referred to films which are based on Shakespearean plays, but which attempt to replace the original verses with modern language, as "violating the Prime Directive."

^I'm so geeky I once had an entire conversation online in which I quoted only Hamlet and the individual to whom I was speaking quoted only Star Wars. And it was intelligible!

I'm so geeky that I love it when they film Shakespeare's works and set them in the modern era but keep the original dialogue. Hamlet in New York City, Romeo + Juliet in California, The Merchant of Venice in Vegas (Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are supposedly working on that)...I think it looks really cool when they do it that way. :techman:

That sounds great. When I was in University we had enthralling Mario Kart races over cans of cheap beer whilst sitting in piles of cigarette butts, discarded joints and plates of mouldy food. It was gross.

I'm so geeky that i love how the English say "in University" or "in hospital" (leaving out "the"). Sometimes i say it that way just to sound British.

I'm so geeky that this is my regular coffee mug:

I am so geeky I noticed that your cup is only a close match to Janeway's and not exactly the same. Her's looks taller with a more narrow handle than yours and the flat end of the handle is on the bottom of the handle on hers while yours is on the top.

Sad but true. It was as close as I could get. :techman:

I'm so geeky that I'm in the process of watching Deep Space Nine for the third time. :shifty:

I'm so geeky that I have 6 level 80s in World of Warcraft and am contemplating a 7th.

I'm sure it's been mentioned already but I'm so geeky that I post on a Star Trek message board at work.

I'm probably of middling to average geekiness compared to most here, but compared to the population as a whole I'm hugely geeky.

PS- I wish I was as geeky as some of you! :D

(Emphasis mine)

I know exactly what you mean when saying that, I too tried to find the perfect ST metal mug -found something pretty close, but just not exactly the right ones :(

BTW:
In case you didn't recognize the utensils:

The image is a tiny part of the set (I only have those (and the tea spoons)) Arne Jacobsen designed to go with the furniture and lamps and other installations for the hotel he build back in the sixties.

That's not being geeky - that's being an anorak :p

Right, I was being facetious, but let's face it, that contest was very entertaining and great fun 'back in the day' - today, though, when most of 'em sing in English and all of the music is 'international pop' and the performers are either obscure local bands or big-boob vocalists the fun has disappeared (IMHO of course) and only die-hard fans (known by the word I used in my previous post :p ) could like it. -But then, I never did anyways :(

I would normally take my women the same way I take my tea: Earl Grey, and hot. But such people of the opposite sex are still a mystery to me. :(

I have actually memorised the order in which the elements appear in Tom Lehrer's song "The Elements." (This is actually true. Meet me some day and I'll rattle it off flawlessly.)

I influence the outcome of online threads by observing them.

Opera is my browser of choice.

Yes. Me so geeky. Me obsess over things looooong time. :bolian:

Facetious, but true. Since Abba left it's just not worth it anymore :(
But, but, but... on the downloaded score sheet, not only do you get pics of the acts but you get to judge them out of 10 for 'quality of song', 'performance' and 'outfits/dance routine'.
I am so going to be Simon Cowell tomorrow night :D

Zee ~ you do know that an Earl is a man ~ this may be why you are going wrong with the ladies?

And I adore opera, but wish I'd gone to see Carmen first rather that Katya :vulcan:
